Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Richmond West at I-64, VA

We were in own for the University of Richmond graduation, and it happened to be on Mother's Day. We have a full schedule of events which made it better that the room was comfortable with great amenities.

The address of the hotel , according to the online travel site (that starts with O), doesn't exist in Richmond, according to my GPS. The hotel is in the suburbs, near I64, but off the beaten track, on West Broad Street strip mall 'heaven', behind a bunch of stores. Not too easy to find.. There are actually two Country Inn's, but neither are in Richmond proper. Eventually we found it, and it was OK, but nothing that would write home about. Continental breakfast was fair, the 'sunnyside up egg', looked like a replica of an egg for a child's play stove - tasted like it too. It was barely adequate, and overall, it was okay, but not a destination.

It was an average, comfortable, unexceptional hotel.

This was a return visit. We were happy the first time and not disappointed this time around. The indoor pool and free wifi are requirements for us. The location is perfect for visiting our local relatives. Clean, comfortable. Accommodating staff. We'll be back.

Overall nice stay. ++: Hotel clean, swimming pool opened until midnight (very convenient) --: breakfast: we had breakfast at 8pm. There was nothing left (no waffles, no regular coffee, no decaf...) only one employee that was doing her best to get everything but that was long. Very long. -

The room had plenty of space for family of 4. The beds were comfortable. I was very happy to see the sign said this hotel is non-smoking! The air smelled clean! Much better than other hotels where there are smoking/non-smoking rooms or halls. Also, the staff was nice. I would like to reserve this hotel again when I visit Richmond.

I had an unfortunate time arranging a group reservation there - the receptionist was hostile when I requested emails to be resent; when I had called a week in advance to inquire about using the shuttle service, the receptionist did not return my inquiry until I had reminded him the week of my stay. He was very immature on the phone and inappropriately said I was "asking on the fritz" for a request "20 miles away" when in fact it is 6 miles away. I would fire this staff person otherwise the hotel may suffer from more unsatisfactory services.

Love, love, love this hotel! Check in was a breeze. Room was super clean & comfortable. Breakfast needs inprovement but there are many other restaurants in the area.

This was a good "value for the price"...not alot of luxuries,but clean and comfortable. Breakfast just OK...

Everything was very nice and comfortable and clean; the staff was great about any requests I had. The breakfast was a pretty good spread, with your typical bagels and cereal, but also a hot selection (like biscuits and gravy) and a waffle iron. The location is near lots of restaurants, though it isn't very walkable (no sidewalks or crosswalks), so it's not great if you don't have a car.
