Super 8 Norfolk/Chesapeake Bay

I'll start with the good, and get to the bad in a few. Husband and I stayed in two different rooms during our 4-day stay. Three days on the back, overlooking the bay. One day on the front side facing the street (which was cheaper, obviously). Both rooms were very similar. The sheets were clean, and I was not afraid to sleep on them. I never saw any bugs, and all the appliances(fridge, microwave, blow dryer, tv, coffee maker) worked as they should have. The showers were clean, and the water pressure was good. I did not need to pester the staff often, but when we asked for fresh towels, it was no problem. Ice machine worked, and the vending machines had decent choices at a fair price. The pool was open, and the water was crystal clear. The beach was easily accessible, and not crowded at all. As far as the 'bad' goes, this place is in desperate need of a makeover. I guess you get what you pay for, but it's very dated and hasn't changed a bit from the last time I stayed. That was over ten years ago. The top comforters, although clean, are severely itchy and frayed underneath. We ended up throwing them aside. I believe that some locals actually 'live' here, and there was a lot partying going on in some rooms near us. Our neighbors were exceptionally 'noisy', And I was very thankful there were no children with me, because I didn't want to have to explain what was going on next door. We even saw a drug deal in the parking lot below our room on the back side. Maybe an isolated event, but not comforting at all. The front room had a loose door lock and handle, the back was missing the entire smoke detector. The concrete surrounding the pool had ant hills everywhere, and most the umbrellas were torn up and broken from the wind. They were an obvious eyesore. There was a lot of trash and debris in the parking lot, especially leading to the beach. And even though I opted for 'Smoking' rooms both times, someone may as well have dumped an ashtray all over the cheaper room, because it reeked. Bad. If I had children, I would re-think booking a room here again. It was just too sketchy. But if my husband and I come back alone in a year to vacation, for the price, I can see us ending up at this hotel yet again.

Rooms were not the cleanest (floors and walls were dirty). Could tell the doors had been broken into at least once. Dents and holes in walls, broken fixtures. The only cleaning done daily was that we got clean towels. Beds were comfortable though. The worst part was the construction going on in the stairwell right outside our room. Jack hammers started at 7:15 in the morning the first morning. Many people complained. The next days it started at 9:00. That was better. Loud parties going on at night in other rooms. The walls are paper thin. Not our best room we have ever stayed in. Staff was nice.

I have to agree with the most of the previous negative reviews. Old, worn-out building, rust, dirt, peeling paint is everywhere. Housekeeping is awful. All they did in 3 days we stayed there is changing towels. No vacuuming, no dusting. The morning after we checked-in we discovered old french fries between a bed and a nightstand, impossible to miss if you are cleaning. Those fries we still there as we left. Bathtub - you can literally stick to it, has not been touched in a while. The only good thing is location, on the beach, no problems with parking. Be ready to drive mile or two to eat, there is nothing in walking distance.

This hotel is nice for the price you pay. The staff was very kind, friendly, and pleasant. The location is great, right on the beach!

The room was big and it was nice to have a refrigerator and a coffee-maker. The bathroom was not as clean as I would like but for the money it was a great deal. The staff were very nice and friendly!

We used that motel for an overnight fishing trip. For this purpose it served us pretty well. The room is ok for the class rating for this place, and there is ample parking and easy access to the beach and boat ramp. The stuff was friendly and everything worked as it should.

I flew to Norfolk to meet my boyfriend who's stationed in Norfolk.It was'nt far from the airport.I enjoyed the stay.Clean and comfy!!!

The entire hotel room was dirty. The sheets and blankets were dirty. The shower was dirty. The corners on the floor in the bathroom was dirty. The neighbors in the next room had small children who jumped on the bed and made loud noices until late into the night. Won't stay there again.

well the hotel had holes in the wall, the fan in the bathroom did not work. The cleaning service was poor also.

Locate rite off the beach and nice size pool. The only problem I had was housekeeping did not clean your room everyday nor did they want to give you new towels or washrags. They said their policy is to clean the room every 4 days...I mean seriously would wants to use the same towel and washrag for 4 day???
