Fine for a short stay..

The hotel was relatively clean, the staff friendly, and the location convenient. The other hotel guests were loud but the low cost makes up for it. Not a bad deal for a short stay.

Not sure about this one

The appearance of the room was not quite to my expectations but it was clean. Tv barely worked. The channels that it said it was on was not the channel and the picture was dark. There were a gang of kids outside in the back by my window playing catch or football till 1am. Whom ever was in the room next to me had a baby who would not stop crying til 230 and people were goin in and out of the room all night. I think I went to sleep at 4 having to get up at 8. Definitely wouldn't stay there again if I want to get some sleep.

Not a very pleasant stay.

We only stayed one night at this place for good reason. We were put in the room right beside the reception desk and it was terrible. The room smelled quite musty for starters. We found someone elses receipt just under the edge of the bed. (Visible from the standing position). The floor in the bathroom was sticky and no blow drier. The worst part was the walls and door are paper thin. yyou could see light coming in from under the door and you could hear everything that every person in the hallway said all hours of the night. That made it very hard to sleep as we were next to the lobby and elevators. Upon check out, we were asked how our stay was, to which I said terrible especially due to the noise and the response I got was, "well, next time you stay just ask for rhe second floor." Under no circumstances will I ever stay there again.

Not A Bad Stay!

Wasn't sure what to expect, never been to the area. Area was a little run down, there was a couple hooptie's parked in the parking lot that may or may not have been moved since Reagan was in office so expectations weren't high. Staff was very friendly and checking in was the easiest it's ever been. The room was cleaner than I thought it would have been based upon the area, a check for bed bugs revealed no evidence of it in them least and the size of the room was amazing for the price paid. Full fridge and a food lion across the street made the location perfect. I would recommend Savannah Suites and I would stay here again, Hooptie's and all.

Across the street is Al Fresco, an Italian restaurant. You wouldn't tell by it's location or exterior, but this place is a Gem and the food so far exceeded our expectations for the price it was being offered at. This place is a classy dress up sort of place, but as I found out they will seat you with flip-flops, shorts, T-shirt, and disheveled hair from a day on the beach. The staff is also amazing and the owner shook my hand and walked out the door hoping we had a great meal and asking for us to come back again. I certainly will, maybe with a button up this time too!

Savannah Suites, Newport News

Our waitress at Josiah Chowning's Tavern in Colonial Williamsburg was staying here temporarily and recommended this hotel. The accommodations were great. The staff was very friendly, asking several times how we found our room. The location was on a main thoroughfare and easy to find, but I wouldn't recommend walking alone along this boulevard, un-escorted, at night.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Make sure to visit Colonial Williamsburg 20 miles north off I-64. A visitor's pass to visit some of the more significant homes & buildings can be a little expensive, but it costs nothing to walk the streets admiring the colonial architecture! Make sure to stop in Josiah Chowning's Tavern to sample their period beers - as well as light fare, or full meals. It's a little on the expensive side, but the historic setting & period entertainment makes it a worthwhile investment.

Visiting Locals

Visiting a friend for the weekend, I checked in and then went back rather late that evening. Room was equipped with fridge and microwave which I found would be extremely convenient had I needed it for this particular stay. I left rather early that morning and would have found it great if the office were actually open before 8 AM...I had to go back to checkout.

Family Reunion Trip

The Location was good. Housekeeping was poor. After a long day of activities with family to find that the room not cleaned (3 days) and no clean towels available (1 day) was disappointing. Will not stay at this hotel again.
