Bad Experience

Had visibly dirty bedding in the first room we stayed in and then the roof leaked onto the bed including our personal blankets and pillows. Second room had gnats in the sink. Not good all around and glad we spent most of the time away from the hotel.

DO NOT STAY HERE!

Luckily Orbitz made this a fair experience, but I was really worried when I arrived at the location. I questioned the girl at the front desk, and she assured me it was safe. She said there were a lot of families staying due to an Athletic Event in town. (I suppose the same my family was attending). But I did not see any other family. Several adult males in parking lot, but not families. When I got to the room there was a leak in the bathroom. The front desk told me it would be tomorrow morning before the maintenance man could come fix it. It was already after 8pm, so I did not let this worry me too much. But I then asked her another question and she stated that I would have to call the desk in the morning when it opened at 6:30am to check when the maintenance man would be able to fix the room. I was suprised to hear her say open at 6:30am, so I asked when does it close? She stated that the office was closed at midnight, but the card key would let you in the lobby and up to the rooms 24/7! I thought how nice, so any of the other guest could let anyone in after midnight. I became very concerned and expressed this to the desk clerk. She stated again that they were a family hotel, but they also had a night security guard. I asked how to get in touch with him, and she stated that desk phone transfered to his cell phone. So I began to look for alternative places to stay, but it was late and the brands I tried all seemed full. So I finally settled into sleeping this hotel one night, and moving on the next morning. Just I dozed off, there was a loud knock at the door. In my sleepy state, I thought the maintenance man was there to fix the leak. WRONG, as I got near the door there were several, almost continuous knocks. I cracked the door open with the security bar still in place, and looked out to find a drunk 35-45 yr old male on the other side, still clinging to his beer bottle. He asked "Sarah there?" I replied "No", he further "Well where is she?" I stated that he had the wrong room. He said "They were here yesterday, where is she now?" I said I did not know any Sarahs. And slammed the door. He started knocking again. I called the desk, and got the security guard, he came up quickly to find the drunkard still at my door, although, he stopped that loud banging. The security guard and drunkard left, I did not see either one of them again. I hope they are alright. [...]

No Return

I went for my daughter's wedding at Fort Eustis. I picked Savannah Suites because of the kitchenette and the more than average rooms. But I was not happy with the accommodations. No complimentary body lotion, kleenex, shampoo or conditioner. There was a slight bug problem (roaches)which was mentioned to the front office. This is a extended stay hotel. We were greeted with old men drinking liquid from a brown paper bag. They seemed harmless. I would have been very uncomfortable if I had brought any children. Would I ever recommend this hotel. A firm "NO"!
