Welcome to BEST WESTERN PLUS Newport News Inn & Suites! Guests who need to be close to Newport News Airport PHF can enjoy an easy commute for those flights when staying at this accommodating Newport News hotel. Stay near Busch Gardens where the excitement of the park is only a few minutes away. With Fort Eustis and Christopher Newport University also in the neighborhood, its never been easier to mix business with pleasure. Travelers can make that campus event and then schedule the rest of the day at fine dining restaurants, sightseeing adventures or simply relaxing. The Patrick Henry Mall is a great place to start any vacation and is a shoppers paradise. This Newport News hotel is close to all major restaurants and corporate areas, making zipping around the area simple. However, with a hot tub and outdoor pool, many guests prefer to stick close to their rooms. All rooms are mini suites, so theres plenty of space to stretch out and rejuvenate. Just 12 miles away is Busch Gardens, and the Virginia Beach is a quick 45 minute drive away. Whether beach bumming or thrill rides are more your speed, you can have it all. Yorktown and Jamestown are nearby historic areas and musts for history buffs or anyone who prefers a little culture. The Mariners Museum is a real treat and the perfect complement to any itinerary. Business travelers with Jefferson Lab often stay at this Newport News hotel, and theres a special negotiated rate just for these employees. Workers with Cannon are also frequent guests as well as many business travelers in town for meetings and conventions. Airport travelers are always welcome, especially considering the property is less than a mile from the airport and highway exit. However, this is no traditional airport hotel. There are more than runways close to this Newport News hotel. The nearby Hampton Coliseum always has something fun happening, and is an excellent choice for a little recreational fun.

for the price it was the cheapest around

I dont even know where to begin. first off we were given a HANDICAP room/ could barely take a shower without having to KNEAL down. maid service was HORRIBLE..for our 5 day stay there wasnt one day that we didnt have to ask for something...Bath matt, coffee, Shampoo. and how about this, when the maid came in to make the bed she put the pillows on the floor. I like to have lost my mind. ARE YOU SERIOUS. I dont like to sit on the beds in a hotel room let alone put my head on a pillow that was on the floor. just one thing to keep in mind when you check into a hotel ask at the first desk to have clean linens brought to your room cuz you never know where those pillows have been. now lets talk about BREAKFAST....even tho there was a snow storm coming they could have been more prepared with their CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST. Nothing was labled where you can actually read it...the Cranberry juice they tried to PASS off was actually GRAPE JUICE...what was served was a carbo loaders paradise. no fruit, until the very last day ( apples appeared out of no where) we went to the grocery to purchase our own breakfast items. this was the worst CONT. Breakfast I have ever had or seen. They only reason I would stay at this hotel again is because it was CHEAP/ You get what you pay for. But at least I will know what to EXPECT..NOTHING. My recommendations: I would tell who asked about it, the TRUTH and then let them make their own decisions.

suite 101 is behind elevator motor

The room was suite 101 the headboard is against the wall where the elevator motor runs most of the night and evening.I was up several times during the night and early morning not by my choice. I was and am very disappointed with the room and the noisy refigurator in both rooms. I won't ever knowingly book a room with them. I had to call the 800 number to Bestwestern to get them to answer the phone. I suggest you call in advance to be sure you don't get treated this way, double check room location.

A mistake.

The good: Price was within my budget. Location was good for my purposes. Room was ready at arrival time. Room was spacious. The bad: Front desk staff were nowhere to be seen, and we waited in the lobby for 5 minutes before she came rushing in. The ugly: Room was supposed to be non-smoking, but smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. Internet access is hardwire only - no wifi anywhere in the hotel. Deadbolt on room door did not work. Shower curtain rod was damaged so curtain did not reach all the way across the bathtub. Recommend that you spend an extra $20 and get a better hotel.

Please, please do NOT stay here

This was by far the worst trip of my life. If I had not carpooled down, I would have left early. As a matter of fact I did attempt to rent a car and drive back alone. The room smelled like beer (think frat house), the hallways smelled like cigarettes (even though I was in a non-smoking room) and the staff was awful. Not once was I welcomed to the hotel or thanked for my stay. As a matter of fact, when I first arrived, I had to wait 10 minutes. The front desk had a sign that said "Will be back in 15 minutes." After the 10, a woman came out of the bathroom. She didn't apologize for the wait. I also found a staff member, very casually dressed, having a personal conversation on her cell while sitting on the lobby couch. I had to wait a minute to tell her that my room door didn't shut right. I found it open after housekeeping had come in. I actually found it open a few times that week. The pool was down and the staff kept making excuses (it was EVERYONE's fault but the hotels). I was there 5 days and it was down all 5. The laundry facilities were also out of order. A door to get into the hotel didn't work. When I went to use the lobby bathroom before leaving, the toilet was clogged. The fountain out front and hot tub didn't work one day. Speaking of the "hot tub" it was actually around the same temperature as I imagine the pool would have been had I been able to swim in it. The cigarette butt holders were overflowing. I actually sobbed hysterically about 3 days into the trip because it was so awful but, as I said, I had car pooled and I couldn't just switch hotels (I also couldn't afford to!). When I spoke to Best Western Customer Service, they were the most UNACCOMMODATING bunch of "customer service reps" I have ever spoken to. They again made me sob hysterically. I completely admit that I get emotional over things, but this was taking it to a new extreme. I will never, ever, in my life forget the terrible things Best Western did to me and the awful experience I had in this hotel. I will never, in all the years I have left on earth (I am only 25!) give a Best Western Hotel one more penny of my hard earned cash. I will pay any amount more to avoid one of their hotels. In fact, I would rather just call off a vacation than stay in a Best Western again. I literally hate them that much. Please, don't make the same mistake I did. Have a happy trip and stay ANYWHERE else.

Overnight Business Stay

The hotel itself was fine. My room was comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. I got up the next day well rested. Unfortunately, the internet was so slow it was awful. I could barely read email on line. If I surfed from one site to another, or even one webpage to another, the browser would either time out or take a minute or more to load another page. I spoke with staff about it and they were nice enough, but couldn't fix it.

Happily surprised

Great location for Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, and even Virginia Beach. Clean room, spacious, updated. Pool area is run down a little and could use some sprucing up. Breakfast was adequate, coffee not so good. Lots of restaurants nearby.

4 day stay

For the money it was great. The room and hotel in general was very clean. Continnental breakfast was average. The first day I tried to use the hair dryer and it was broke. A guy came to my room and it was apparent he thought it was too complicated for me to turn on but eventually he replaced it. In the meantime I still needed to dry my hair and was sent to a used dirty room to use the one in there...
