Holiday Inn Express LYNCHBURG

We stayed 5 days for my husband intensive classes at LU. Our room was a king with sofa bed for my little one. Nice TV, microwave and fridge. Bed was very comfy and pillows were differentiated between soft and firm, Bathroom was clean with plenty new towels. Breakfast had hot sausage, biscuits, eggs, cereal, pastries, a pancake maker, yogurt, milk, overall nice selection. I was truly impressed with staff. From house keeping to front desk they were very helpful, kind and since I had my son with me, they would always come to say hello to him and even when he got hurt playing and could not come for breakfast, the ladies would ask about him and show sincere compassion for his little "booboo". I requested a quite room and we stayed at the 3rd floor which was really quiet. The only thing that made me uncomfortable was the fact that someone had booked a conference room that happened to be on the 3rd. Floor to "buy gold". I have to admit that I didn't like the fact that "strangers" were coming to sell their gold at the 3rd floor, next to the guest rooms. In my opinion the conference room should be away from the guest rooms to protect guests privacy and safety. Other than that We had a very nice stay and I already booked our next trip at the same hotel.

Hotel staff tried to charge me again for the room when I left even though I went through [...] to pay for it!

I would have liked a fitness center or pool/hot tub. The hotel was not very clean, even our room, but it is old and needs renovating a bit. There was some work going on to the outside of the building..construction which made it noisy in the morning b/c the workers were in the hallways. The breakfast buffet was very good and the staff was friendly and professional.

Great breakfast for this type of hotel. The only thing that bothered us was that there were often people smoking in the stairwells and it came into the hotel hallways.

The hotel did not meet our expectations. We had a nonsmoking room, but it reeked of cigarette smoke. The ventilation system was poor and our air conditioner did not seem to cool the room. The bed were small, and very hard. We were very disappointed and told the staff at checkout. They did not seem to care.Would not stay here again.

very nice staff. Made one feel welcome. The bed & pillows were top of the line. I was very satisfied with the selection.

Elevator is extremely slow; fortunately there is lots of reading material on the ground floor to help pass the time while you wait. Staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Continental breakfast lacks any real substance or variety. Fast food restaurants are within easy walking distance and nicer restaurants are just a short drive away. Mall is a long walk or very short drive. Centrally located with easy access to all Lynchburg freeways. Very near to LU.
