definitely needs renovations
Not bad for the price, but out of date. could use new paint and updated furnishings. 1st floor smelled of BO, rest was musty. The room itself wasn't too bad, but the TV should be updated, the fixtures could use updating, the sockets weren't even properly screwed into the wall...the water pressure in the shower was horrible. I wouldn't stay here again, clearly you get what you pay for.

Just What I Needed
I love Lexington Va and I am so happy I stayed at the Howard Johnson Inn. I went down for a horse show at the Va Horse Center and it was so convenient to everything! I also needed to get away for some quiet time for me. My son passed away Easter Sunday and to sit and look out at the beautiful mountains at the Inn and remember the years he was with me.was a much needed rest. I can't wait to go back in May I feel like it is home for me there. Thank you.

In Hotel
You don't have too look all over the hotel for cold drinks and ice...they were at all the exits. You could get a cold soda or water coming and going and they had tea and coffee in the room!

nice
we were staying in Lexington for the first time as our son is attending VMI. Our aim is to stay in several local places to see which feels best for us. This was nice and a good price. Will consider again. Although, I must say...the breakfast area gets congested with having the main breakfast items in the corner of the room....not convenient and everything gets jacked up.

It was clean but kind of outdated. We were only there for a few hours before going to sleep, and left at 6 a.m. the next day. They had a mini golf course that needed much updating and repairs. The staff was friendly and the continental breakfast was good.

Great stay
The staff was polite and helpful, the room was comfortable and clean. I was pleasantly surprised at the hilltop location and great views. Breakfast was ok- waffles and biscuits w/ gravy seemed to be a big hit, but I would have liked a few healthier options (yogurt, fresh fruit,etc.) Overall, the stay was very pleasant.

Good stay.
Good stay at a reasonable price. Older hotel but it was clean. Pretty decent breakfast with make-your-own waffles, eggs, biscuits and gravy and other normal fare. It has an 18 hole mini-golf as part of the hotel that was fun. It's about 30 years old and falling apart (and could have been really good with just some basic upkeep) but was still fun for the kids and me. Rooms were decent size. Everything worked fine and we didn;t have any noise problems but I could tell that if neighbors or hallway had been loud, we would have known it. Only drawback was that they appeared to have only one person working in the evening so if she had to go check on something at a room, she left everyone waiting at the counter til she came back.
