College Road Trip

College visit to JMU. The Village Inn is 10 minutes south of the school. Nothing fancy, but clean, comfortable, nice people, and a country feel at a reasonable price. Recommended.

Very nice room w/limited restaurant menu

Hotel location, room service, room as such were very good. Restaurant menu was almost same all week though lots of variety was present. Being a vegetarian, this was challenging but managed.

Very nicely decorated room. Great private deck for sipping your morning coffee or watching the stars at night. Wonderful amenities - whirlpool bath, microwave, fridge and coffeemaker

Clean, but very basic

We were stopping about half-way on our way to NC. We were tired and checking in late. The person at the front desk was very nice. The room was out-dated, but clean. The shower pressure was low and the water never really got hot. Most of the other motels in that vacinity were right off of 81 and would have been much noisier. All in all, it was ok.

Simple but thoroughly correct

This family-run motel is a little further from town (hence JMU, which my daughter and I were visiting), but it is much nicer than the usual chain hotels clustered at the I-81 exits in Harrisonburg. The staff are extremely friendly, the room was spacious and well-equipped (free WiFi, mini-fridge, microwave, heat-lamp and hair dryer in shower area). It was super-quiet despite being on a main drag, and we even got to visit the Rockingham County Fair literally across the street (no traffic issues despite HEAVY attendance). The on-site restaurant has a perfectly satisfactory breakfast buffet for $7, and dinner is served there , too, though we didn't check it out. Further it is very convenient to I-81 in either direction. All in all, this place is a great deal, modestly priced, well-maintained and managed, with a pleasant reception (and check-out). I would strongly recommend for families visiting JMU students or checking out the school.
