Below Red Roof Inn Standards

I was in a non smoking room that had obviously been smoked in... I realize this property is older and will naturally have some defects but this was just shy of horrible.

Right next to convention center

I came to this hotel to attend a job fair at the convention center. It is very close, and also right next to a lot of fast food and a few walk in restaraunts. There is also a shopping center across the street if you forget a certain something or just have extra time. The hotel itself is best described as value-based. Nothing special, no amenities really, but the staff was very receptive and helpful when I needed an iron. If you don't need any flash, just a bed and place to rest, this is for you. Good wifi reception too

Got What I Paid For

I traveled to Norfolk for a job interview and stayed at Red Roof Inn to save some money. We stayed in a non-smoking room that had a smell of stale cigarette smoke and a cigarette butt in the trash can. The toilet had a slow leak onto the bathroom floor. The entryway light, which was the only light connected to a light switch, did not work. During our stay the neighboring hotel allowed a group of individuals to sell t-shirts, sunglasses and food out of their parking lot; this attracted a large number of unfavorable individuals, some of whom left piles of empty beer boxes in the bushes outside of our room. The Red Roof Inn staff made no effort to discourage those individuals from loitering and parking in the Red Roof Inn parking lot. This hotel stay made me appreciate that Virginia recognizes South Carolina concealed weapons permits.

Great location for the price

Went to the Jazz Festival on Friday Evening for my birthday and the groups were great that performed. Saturday spent birthday with my kids. Did not see the pool and if there was one did not know where it was at the hotel. The bed was comfortable and bought groceries because we had a fridge and microwave which saved money on eating out everynight. My family including my self had a good time as usual. Nice to have a break!

Highly Disatisfied

Eh..

This hotel was not what I expected when I made the reservation. First, when I checked in, there was a man with a large dog just sitting in the lobby. Which I found slightly unprofessional. When I arrived at the room, I was shocked to see the condition of the beds. They were very low to the floor and somewhat uncomfortable. Also, the room was a little cold, so I turned the thermostat on for the heat, but the hear never came on. Other than that, there were no other problems. I would not reccoment this hotel to anyone.

very dimm

WE AS A FAMILY ATTENDED THE VIRGINIA DUAL TO SUPPORT OUR SON SCHOOL WYOMING SEMINERY. WHEN WE ARRIVED TO THE HOTEL OUR RESERVATION WAS ALL WRONG. WE REQUESTED TWO BEDS, 1ST FLOOR FOR HANDICAP ISSUES AND COULD NOT FIND OUR FAMILY RESERVATION. IN FACT WITHOUT A PRINT OUT OF THE RESERVATION WE WOULD HAVE A ROOM. WE HAD TO ACCEPT A ROOM ALL THE WAY BACK OF THE HOTEL IN THE 3RD FLOOR WITH ONLY ONE ELEVATOR TO USED. OUR VISIT WAS VERY NICE AND OUR TEAM PLACE 1ST IN THE DUALS. IF OUR HOTEL WAS AS GOOD AS THE RESULTS OF OUR TEAM WINNING IT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN EXPERIENCE TO REMEMBER FOR A LIFE TIME. WE HAVE NEVER STAYED AT A RED ROOF INN NEXT TIME I WOULD HAVE TO CONSIDER A ESSENTIAL SUITES HOTEL, VERY NICE.
