Not a value the week I stayed there

This is a decent budget hotel. However, the week that I stayed there a conference was in town so the hotel was $40.00 more per night than usual. At that cost they should have had air conditioning in all of the hallways; they did not. If the elevators were busy and they were since the hotel was full, you constantly had to wait and it felt like 110 in the hallways as you waited. I asked one of the housekeepers about this and she said that there is never air conditioning in the halls. This made a stay at a budget hotel (which it wasn't this week) not very pleasant. You felt like fainting every day just waiting for an elevator.

hampton hotel

This hotel wa average, at best. All the other post about the hotel being outdated are correct. This was right for what I needed it for. The last night of my stay was a Friday night and it seems that the party crowd came in. Saturday morning when I went to check out, it smelled like a skunk had died in the hallway. The crowd was noisy until about midnight, but then it died down.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

You could very easily get to shopping or dining by taking a short walk. Although, be careful, as this is a major city and crime is on the rise. Locals can smell a tourist a mile away

"A little getaway for me"

I was just looking for a place to getaway from everything for a while and I have to say I couldn't have picked a better place. The room was clean. The area was quiet and centrally located to everything. All in all I would book this place again.

Mediocre Hotel

Walking into the hotel, I realized it was an older hotel in need of either a remodel job or possibly new management that would just dress things up. First impressions: the ceiling tiles in the lobby are sagging, the ice machine behind the front desk has all of the wires and pipes visible and the lobby area just really needs some TLC to dress it up and make you feel like you're in a clean place. I got in the elevator. It has a glass window looking outside... only the glass is all permanently fogged up and the carpet on the floor is loose. I got to the room and the room appeared very clean, but still dated. The room had a refrigerator and microwave which was nice. The next morning, we went downstairs for breakfast. The breakfast is just okay, but fairly typical for this class of hotel. My wife needed to use the restroom in the lobby and when she came out, she said that the restroom looked clean, but that the toilet paper was stacked on the floor... oooowh! Would I stay here again? Possibly. Do I think that it would take very little money to change the first impression of someone coming in? Absolutely! If the lobby were dressed up a little, it would have made me feel like I was in a clean place (and that's really all I care about) and I would have given it 5 stars. When I see someone let their lobby go downhill (and their elevator), I assume that they let everything go by the wayside including how they clean. C'mon management/owner... take some pride in your establishment!

No trouble sleeping, mini-fridge a plus.

Staff was very helpful and courteous. The breakfast in the morning is a nice plus, great assortment of typical continental breakfast fare. Room was adequate for a couple days and overall comfortable.

Decent Hotel for the Price

The hotel was in a great location just off route 64 with lots of restaurant choices nearby. It was a one night stay on the way to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The hotel was on the older side, but clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included but was limited to the basic coffee, juice, toast, bagel, toaster waffle and danish.

nice, but a bit run down

For the very reasonable price, this was fine. Unfortunately, we were next to a jubilant sports team that kept us up very late.

My stay was great

The room was very nice. There was no mat for the floor when coming out of the shower. I would suggest they add a chrome bar in the shower itself for the towel to go on. Overall, I enjoyed my stay.
