Mid-week business trip

Hotel room was clean and the bed comfortable. Had fridge and microwave, however, neither was in a place where the cord reached, so I had to move it to use them. Night check-in woman was very friendly, daytime man- not so much. Advertised breakfast. First day- no coffee ready, and no decaf. 2nd day- no bagels. Just 2 loaves of bread in a bag. Had cereal in containers and a gallon of milk. If you're looking for a cheap, basic hotel room, this is it. If you want breakfast for your family in the morning, this is NOT it.

Great stay with family

The hotel was very clean, the staff were friendly and it was a great price. Went to the Nascar race in Richmond, easy drive in esy drive out-45 minutes away. We went to Frediricksburg historical district. Very close-10 minutes away. Went to DC mall the next morning-about an hour away. Lots of food places nearby. A nice german restaurant in Fredricksburg not too far away.

Virginia Science Museum and the Marine Corp Museum are bigger draws if you have kids but my daughter was entertained by the colonial re-enactors in Fredricksburg.which turned out better than i thought! Plus it is very close for an early day activity.

Better than others in its class

I'm an artist on a budget, so when I need to stay in a hotel, I typically choose a chain of motels that includes a number between 5 & 7 in its name, but since I was going to have a guest with me this time & this website had a deal going if you booked 2 or more nights, I decided to cough up the extra $10 a night to get something a little bit better than what I'm used to. The front desk clerk when we checked in was a SWEETHEART, the room was all right-- fridge, microwave, I always like when hotels/motels have toilet seats that can close (I'm terrified of things falling in the toilet), it's always nice to have the sink area outside of the bathroom area, the room was clean, there was enough space in the room & furniture, but the TV worked poorly (the picture was all static-y & snow-y) & there was obvious mold in the shower. We didn't check out the continental breakfast either morning we were there, so I can't comment on that. I would not recommend staying here if you don't have a vehicle. Overall, it wasn't blow-my-mind spectacular, but for a 2 star chain, it was what you'd expect.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

Pick up a "Guide to Fredericksburg" in the lobby when you check in. Toward the back there are coupons to the local Perkins (make a right out of the parking lot, it's about a mile down Warrenton on the left) and a few other dining areas in historic Fredericksburg. If you're a coffee aficionado, go to Hyperion coffee on William Street. For an amazing candy selection, go to PA Dutch Candy Company on Caroline Street, also check out Soup & Taco on Caroline Street for some great Mexican food. If you patronize local shops, watch the prices in the shop called Irish Eyes-- they're ridiculously expensive & not all their products are clearly labeled with prices.

Unhappy Business Experience

This was an disappointing and uncomfortable business trip. I found I needed to switch hotels to get closer. Refunds are held for 5 business days and due to this I could not change reservations. Told it was non smoking and it was not (burn holes in the carpets and it took 2 days of spraying air freshener with my sinuses full). The hotel room had cobwebs in the corners, blanket was greasy feeling and had to take it off, the tub was dirty and housekeeping did not clean after leaving notes behind. I was too busy to do more. You will have to work hard to get me to use this service and this hotel again.

Got Stuck with the Dirtiest Hotel Ever

Needed to change my four day reservation to a closer location and found it takes 5 business days to reimburse my account and switch. Running on a tight budget with business trip; I was stuck with what I got. All I needed was a clean place that was closer. Wanted non smoking and was offered at the front desk. Got a smoking room with butt burns in the carpet and cobwebs in the corners. Dirty floor boards and hair. The velour blanket was greasy feeling to the touch. Wrote notes to the housekeeping staff to leave the blanket off and cleaning requests that were ignored. Felt itchy. Worst experience traveling ever.

emergency respite

needed place to keep family cool when duplex lost power x1wk. clean, nice staff. rate better online , saved 25/night. they don't allow pets, so I stayed at home w/ them. it was worth the 51 I paid so they didn't suffer thru the blackout. they got power just as the family arrived, so it could have been nice knowing if they power to begin with. Phones up/down didn't help them either I'm sure.

Adequate Stopover

Although this hotel is "one of the oldies" in an area of lots of hotels, it was adequate for our needs. We were passing through from Fl to ME, and it was a good halfway point. Staff was friendly, said in 6 months the hotel would be all revamped. It offered breakfast, continental, adequate for an early start. It was just OK

Acceptable

The accomodations were acceptable for the price paid. The rooms were clean and promptly serviced. The entrance (beyond the control of the motel) caused some problems as the light was long and confusing.
