Careful of Double Billing
I sleepily checked out at 3:30 AM for a work project. Later that day I noticed that they billed my card the full price, even though it was a paid reservation. I find this unacceptable. Also, don't pay more than $99 for this place. It's a good deal at that price. Anything more is too much.

Grocery store, ABC store, etc. in walking distance. Nice restaurants near drive. A mixed neighborhood of commercial and homes, so need a car. Metro about a mile away and buses closer, and cabs plenty.

Although I signed up and prepaid through [...], on my return I noted that the Town House Hotel had placed a $60 charge to my credit card (which they requested in case of "incidentals"}.This is theft, pure and simple!!!

Not so great but not that bad
At check-in the counter person asked for my card and put a hold on it without telling me what the hold was for and how much he was holding. If I didn't look at my bank account on line I would have over drawn on some stuff in my account. The room was clean but a little musky when we first got there. The setting was nice overall but just those small things made me a little uncomfortable.

We were there to attend a rally on the DC Mall. The hotel kitchen was nice but the room's thermostat didn't work correctly. A little outdated, but clean and affordable. The morning breakfast was much better than regular "contintental" fare and the staff was very helpful with information.

Better to try to catch a cab to and from the metro stop. It was much further and complicated to find than we anticipated. It was much further away from the city than we realized; the distance ratings can be misleading.

nice hotel near state theater
Hotel was clean, quiet, decent sized and inexpensive. Most importantly it was a just a short walk to the state theater which is why we booked.

Quiet spot for longer stays
Quiet and convenient location for me, and well-furnished room. Exhorbitant $100 pet charge was not advised until check-in and refund of pre-paid room charge was strongly refused. Eventually, [...] charge was refunded; thanks to management and [...] for resolution but extra charges on "pets allowed" rooms should be advised before payment.
