Will never stay there again...

Very much an older hotel. The room smelt old and musty, our window did not close, so we listened to a refrigerated semi truck that was running under our window all night long instead of sleeping, and when the hotel staff was talked to they replied that there was nothing that they could do. If the window was fixed it wouldnt have been so loud so no one was able to sleep.

Horror Night

We checked in around 6:00pm. I inquired about the roll-away bed I had called and reserved a couple days prior to our arrival. Clerk informs me that the roll-away will not accomodate our room of two twin size beds because it is too small. I informed her that I had called in advance to reserve the roll-away and this was never mentioned. Considering that we could likely do without it, two of us would share one of the beds. Clerk tells me she's sorry for the inconvenience.Go to bed later that night, sharing one of the beds with a family member. Could not sleep at all because the bed was too crowded. Decided to heck with it, I'll do it Boy Scout style and sleep on the floor. I search the room but there are no extra blankets. Go out into the hallway around 2:00am and see an employee in the hallway. I ask if the manager was available; he replied, "I'm the manager". I explain that I had reserved a rollaway, to which he interrupts, "Your room won't accomodate a roll-away". Yes, I reply, telling him I've already been informed of that. "Sorry", I hear again, although I did get the blanket - a new one still wrapped in plastic. I open it and hit the floor. About an hour later I find this is not working so I crawl back up and join my wife on one of the beds. I wake up that morning, groggy and itching. To my horror I discover that both my arms are itching. I lift the sheets from the bed I slept on and inspect for bedbugs. However, I do not see any along the lining. Since I cannot pinpoint the source of the bites I assume it just might be mosquito bites. We get our showers and check out, enroute to enroll our son to college. As I prepare to leave, I ask the manager, the same encountered in the middle of the night, for a copy of my bill. He said that I was booked thru [...] and that I would have to retrieve my bill online from their services. As the morning progresses, I determine these bites to my arms are not from mosquitoes, as they are persistently itching. However, I cannot make out where the point of contact was made on my skin. Concluding our son's entry into college, we make for the long 5 hr. trip home. All the way, I'm scratching my arms, which drives my wife crazy. We get home and now I'm concerned I may have brought home "hitch hikers" as well, so I bag up all the clothing worn at the hotel and head up for a long bath and shower, just to insure that if anything tagged along, it would go down the drain. Exhausted, my night is accompanied with painful itching and dreams of bugs. I wake up this morning and my right arm is inflamed, red and swollen. Now I can definitely pin point two distinct bite marks. They are like bullseye marks on a red ringed target. Wife says I'm suffering from an allergic reaction and gives me two benedryl tablets to allieviate the itching. Called my doctor and am scheduled to meet with him tomorrow morning. What a horrible stay. I am preparing to contact my credit card company and have them deny the charges. Not sure what else I can do, as I reportedly have already spoken with a manager of the property, this during our 2:00am encounter when seeking the blanket. I could call my attorney but at this point I probably will deal with the itching and hope the welts subside until tomorrow, when my doctor looks at them. In the future, I will never EVER do business with the Super 8 properties again.

unbeatable place to stay for the price

We stayed in Christiansburg to go to family weekend at RU. It was close and easy to access from the highway. We ended up having to book an extra room close to the arrival date and took a smoking room although we do not smoke. Gratefully, it was a clean room and did not STINK, which many smoking rooms in hotels do. The staff was extremely friendly and had a good sense of humor, which really made it nice; and the room was not expensive and came equipped with everything we needed!!

No Frills But Nice - Good Price

Much better than most economy hotels I've been in. No frills, but didn't pay for frills. Coffee and breakfast served. Nice and friendly staff. Short drive to VA Tech.

Super 8 Motel Christainburg

Attended a baseball series at VT. A clean room would have been great. The room stunk and the carpet was dirty as wll as the bathroom. It was not as bad as some trips and worse than others. The attendants were great and the cleaning lady was great when we met with her.
