Wonderful place to stay

Nice hotel, my wife loved the room decor. A small fridge would be nice though. Everyone was very nice. The only problem was that no one monitered the pool area so the pool exceded the max capacity a couple of times while we were there.

We were in town to attend a funeral. Fairfield was fine for our needs. It's close to shopping and restaurants and major highways. The room was clean although the sheets on one bed were torn. The biggest inconvenience was the waterflow(or lack of)in the bathroom sink. There was only a spray setting that made brushing your teeth a challenge. The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very nice with lots of variety.

caught-up in Chesapeake
be careful what you wish for
Before booking your holiday plans, make sure to check the weather and if they say "WARNING, major snow storm to affect (the area where u are going to be staying) LEAVE or be prepared for the worst. If you do however get CAUGHT make your way over to the 7-11 gas station, lots of fun & war stories.

If you ever stay here during a major winter snowstorm remember the 7-11 will ALWAYS be open. Make sure to ask the front desk folk how to take the 1/4 mile short walk instead of the 2 mile long walk (don't forget there's a lot of snow out ther)

This isn't the hotel that I requested on Orbitz and was very disappointed because I had selected the one on the beach.

You have to eat at Joes Crab shack, 200 yards from hotel or try the many steak houses.

Overall, Nice
The checkin was fine. The rooms were nicely updated and clean. They had free internet in the lobby and a snack area and miscellaneous stuff 24/7 which came in handy. Very convenient location right by a mall with lots of restaurants. About a 20-25 minute drive to VA Beach.

If you go to Virginia Beach, check out HK on the Bay. The local joint has great local bands and the food is to die for. The crab cakes were outstanding! Almost no bread...all crabmeat and delicious. Also, the nachos are a meal for at least 3-4 people. The food is exceptional and you wouldnt think so considering it LOOKS like a locals drinking bar. Trust me, hit it up.

The Good & The Bad
I stayed at this hotel because I was attending a family member's memorial service in Chesapeake. The hotel was very nice, my room was large, the breakfast was deluxe, but the airport shuttle I scheduled on Saturday had no driver on Sunday at 8 A.M. when I needed to leave for the airport. The front desk person found my request, but there was no driver on-site. She called around to the other nearby Mariott properties and they had no one either. Finally the towel man drove to the airport and picked up another woman who had been waiting at her hotel for over half an hour for a ride to a nearby conference center. This all turned out all right, but it was a little annoying that there was no driver available when I had taken the time to get my name on the list the day before I needed to leave.
