Nicer than the average Holiday Inn
It was clean, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the room was large and had a refrigerator and microwave which was a plus. Checkout was fast and easy.

I've stayed at this hotel several times while in Charlottesville for UVa football games. The staff remembers their regular guests and are very friendly and accommodating.

Not worth the $$
Spent $185 for a night in this hotel. PROS: bar/lounge area, and very friendly bar tender. CONS: as another reviewer posted, we thought there were no black out drapes to block out light. We called front desk and after 10 minutes of ringing the desk, he finally answered. He came to our room (on the first floor with only sheers on the windows so anyone walking by could see in) and he looked at the drapes and told us "I guess this room doesn't have the drapes". The next morning, after sleeping with a parking lot light glaring through the sheer curtains, we found the black out curtains in front of the sheers pushed all the way to the sides. Our first floor view was of a dumpster with a toilet sitting along side of it. The room had an antiquated tv with a broken power button and there were stains all over the carpet. I would have tolerated these little things if 1) I wasn't so grumpy from lack of sleep and b) I had paid only $79.99 for the room. Not worth the price!!

Not Applicable
If trying to get to the hotel from Route 29, go to the light and make a u-turn instead of trying to turn left into the parking lot. We sat forever waiting for a break in traffic!

Not impressed
Visited UVA to drop my daughter off for college. Great location, clean, however the ac unit was loud and there was no heavy drapes to block out the street lights at night. Will not stay again.

Fair
I had reserved a nonsmoking room, adding a message that I have asthma and a smoke allergy. I was given a smoking room, or anyway one that smelled like an ashtray. The desk clerk moved me to another room, one that smelled only slightly smoky. This is typical treatment for a female traveling alone. The hotel is attractive, overpriced, not altogether clean, with uncomfortable beds and acceptable food. I won't stay here again if I can help it.

Very nice!
This was great for a girls weekend getaway. The hotel was nice, the room was clean, staff was helpful for our many questions. We spent most of our time having fun in C'ville, but if I was to stay in the area again, I'd definitely choose this one. The only problem we had was that I asked for an extra bed (there were 3 of us) and we didn't get one, but I consider that minor compared to all the things that could happen.
