Great location; Great Value
Our stay at the Holiday Inn in Monticello was great. We found it to be relatively new with comfortable beds. The location was perfect for visiting all the presidential homes as well as close to the downtown shopping mall.

The staff was very helpful and the proximity to UVA was great considering I didn't understand about the home football games and how the hotels are booked. Room had a slight smell - but was clean. Breakfast was good and easy since we had a 10:15 appt that we needed to make. We needed a place to sleep that was clean and safe - my daughter and I were satisfied.

Cleaning staff slightly below standard
bathroom wasn't clean at arrival. Cleaning staff began demanding access to rooms at an annoyingly early time. Somewhat noisy. All would be tolerable, but the cost was out of line with the value provided.

Reasonable Holiday Inn
The hotel is less than I expect from a Holiday Inn. The pool & hot tub were closed (outdoor), the restaurant was very slow and has limited selection. The hotel does not provide a free breakfast to priority club (Holiday Inn loyalty club) members. Surprisingly the hotel did not have/provide a list of local restaurants and the desk staff seemed put out that we were not dining in. All in all it was very expensive (160/night) for a mediocre experience.

Go to the "pedestrian mall" in old Charleston. Nice to walk around and many good looking restaurants.

I was surprised to see the attitional charge on my credit card from the hotel for $22.00. I thought I had a good price on our room until I got home. That was a surprise

Nice for the price
We were in the Charlottesville area to tour presidential homes. The Holiday Inn - Monticello was easy to find, was centrally located to the attractions we came to see. The room was current and clean. Hotel staff was attentive and professional. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant, and it was good. Overall, I would give this hotel a good review. Good ammenities for a reasonable price.

Short drive from hotel
Moticello & Ash Lawn - Highland are a short drive away. Montpelier is a bit further, but this hotel's location makes getting to any of these three homes quick & easy. Historic downtown Charlottesville is VERY close - lots to do there.

Very nice!
The location of the hotel to all the president's homes was perfect! Very easy to find homes, dining, whatever else we needed. The room to the hotel was clean, nicely decorated, and comfy. The only complaint I have is that the pillows were little squares. King size pillows on a king size bed would have made much more sense! Otherwise, I would highly recommend a stay at this Holiday Inn. We also ate in the dining room, and the food was delicious!
