OK FOR THE MONEY

Booked 2 months in advance non smoking. Called 2 weeks prior to verify non-smoking room. Arrive and told yes it's a non-smoking room. Go to the room and its a smoking room. Fortunatly they were able to move us to a non-smoking room. Told in office that you can request non-smoking but there is no guarentee it will be non-smoking. 2nd time in three stays they have put us in non-smoking.

Pretty Bad, good location though

Pretty gross overall. The location is good, but the room was dirty. The bed was ok and the sheets were clean. Smelled like a dirty old hotel room. I paid 79.99, I wouldn't pay more than 30 next time.

Not a good deal.

Took a long time to check in. Only had smoking rooms. Room was outdated and had a rusty tub.

Life after Death

our room was dirty, had no alarm clock, no remote control, smelled like stale smoke and was supposed to be non-smoking. the refrigator would not close all the way. basically this is a very old hotel in desparate need of being totally rebuilt. i could not beleive the sign in the office that said the UVA Foundation owned the hotel. They should be ashamed.

Nice Area

This motel was what I would expect from a 2 star. The room was clean and comfortable. Located only a few minutes from the University of Virgina, and close to the down town area. Other attractions like Monticello was only about a 20 minutes drive.

Expected Little and Got Even Less

Check in at 3:00 - room not ready; At check-in a new employee was being trained. She was great; but experienced employees lacked professionalism. Because room was not ready, they moved us to another room, which had not been vacuumed. No hair dryer in room. The location is what keeps this hotel open.

Don't expect a lot

When you pay around $65 a night at a hotel, your expectations need to be constrained somewhat. I was looking for a comfortable bed, a shower with clean towels, and air conditioning. And I was mostly satisfied with what we received. I have yet to figure out what the cleaning crew's schedule is. I saw them throughout the day with carts, but our room was only serviced once in our 3-day stay (meaning the clean towels I expected were not provided). The refrigerator in the room was not working properly. There were ants in the shower, which just seemed bizarre to me. And the vending machine was sold out of all beverages. That being said, the location is great, convenient to UVa and Barracks Road Shopping Center. The bed was comfortable and clean. And the A/C kicked butt on such a hot miserably humid weekend. I may stay here again, if the price is drastically lower than other economical options nearby. But be prepared to make some sacrifices in the name of cost savings.

OMG - This is a terrible place to stay

This was the worst experience I have had with a Hotel/Motel. My son was accepted to UVA and I was looking for a deal to go and participate in the New in coming student activities on Friday April 9th. The plan was to come down on Thursday night after work and be available for the event early Friday and then stay for Saturday and participate in my Fraternity event on Campus. Well when checking in the clerck was mess. She was sluggish and did not know how to run the computer very well. We were the only ones checking in and it took 32 minutes for her to check us in. When going to the room which was a second floor room and i asked for a first floor room. We proceeded to the room on the 2nd flr and the key did not work. I sent my son back to the office to get a new key and 15 minutes later we received a key for a new room on the first floor. Then the room appeared to be clean but it was definitely a smoker in the room before us. I called to the office and this was the only room available which was "as she said a Non-Smoking room. The Bed was lopsided the bathroom had bugs. We made it through the night and the shower was horrorible - good presure but way to hot and had a hard time adjusting. I am an X Army Artillery Officer and can sleep anywhere but, this was the worst stay I have ever had. After showering and getting dressed we had to get to the event. I came back to the room at 2pm that day [...] So the long of it was we cut our trip short and left the hotel around 2:45pm and returned home early. [...]. [*] I will never ever stay at this place again.Sincerely Mark Leehan
