Great for close to campus
This is a great basic hotel if you are looking to hang at V Tech for a bit. Close to campus, friendly staff (brought stuff to my room for me!) and very clean. I had good shower pressure and the temp of the room was perfect. It's no 5 star stay, but very nice for your basic hotel/motel. If I have to visit again I will definitely stay there again.

Good Value for the Price
My husband and I spent two nights at the Red Carpet Inn. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, and the room was very clean. We were pleased that there was a microwave and small fridge in the room, and there was a power strip next to the beds which was very convenient. No hair dryer, but I brought my own after reading the reviews. The location is excellent, just a few minutes from downtown Blacksburg and the main highway. It's a great value for an older motel.

I was a little unsure about staying here initially, but now I can honestly say that I would absolutely stay here again! The owner was just wonderful. Very friendly, helpful and courteous. The room was just fine. Nothing extraordinary, but really all that one would need unless you plan on spending your vacation inside the hotel room. It was very clean and though the mattress was a bit on the firm side, I actually woke up feeling rested. It couldn't be in a better location to get to Cassell Coliseum. I recommend this hotel if you're looking for an economical place to stay! Great time!!

Great for an overnighter
I was only at the Red Carpet Inn for 1 night. The hotel is old but is being kept up. The staff was friendly and helpful. It definitely was worth the value.

Shabby but friendly
O.K., it was quite reasonably priced and the room seemed clean and had decent furniture, plus key card entry. And, the young owner [?] and wife were very nice. But, if we hadn't looked inside the room, we would have driven on, because this place looked closed and abandoned. Shabby, deteriorating paint; pool empty and covered with tarp; really not appealing at all. There should be a sign out front that says "Yes, we're open."

Inexpensive, nice motel.
In Blacksburg for orientation at VA Tech. Inexpensive motel, convenient to university and Krogers. The owner was extremely helpful and just a nice guy.

Good location, friendly service
My brother and I stayed here for a wedding over a weekend. This motel seemed abandoned when we got there Friday afternoon. A nice Indian (I think?) couple ran this place. While they were rather quiet, they were friendly and helpful. Our keys didn't work when we got back late on Saturday (4am) but someone was at the front desk to issue us a new key which was great! The rooms were modest but having an empty fridge was nice because I had brought some food with me. Also, we were only a mile from downtown so it was a nice run/bike in beautiful weather. It's close to a shopping center which was very convenient. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised with the Red Carpet Inn!

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
Just a block or so north is a shopping center with an ABC liquor store, Kroger, couple restaurants, an awesome Dollar Tree, and the Oasis World Market. The Dollar Tree was better than any dollar store we'd ever come across! I know that sounds funny but it was superior to all other dollar stores!! Also the Oasis World Market was fantastic, they have free beer tastings every Saturday from 2pm-4pm!

This hotel is similar to the ones they hooked me up with on a recent trip to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo during Thanksgiving with my children. [*] stunk, falling apart, it says recently remodeled, [*] This was exactly like both hotels in San Luis Obiso and Solvang. [...]

Get there early for the free breakfast, it is not bad but very crowded early with little seating.
