Perfectly located.

The Westin Arlington is located in such a wonderful location, with tons of food and shopping options away from the craziness of downtown DC. It's also extremely conveniently located 2 blocks away from the Ballston Metro Stop-so if you do need to get to DC, it's a hop, skip and a jump away.

Westin Arlington Gateway

Great location only two blocks from Ballston Metro stop where its only a 15 +/- min ride into DC. Clean and functional room for a family of four. Walking distance from shops, the mall and many restaurants in Ballston area. Would stay there again.

Entertainment tip: Not Applicable

My family arrived Friday night and enjoyed walking around and dinner in Ballston, then on Saturday we took the Metro into DC and saw many of the attractions and museums went back to the hotel to rest and returned to Georgetown for nice dinner on the waterfront. We even stopped at Georgetown Cupcakes for some treats. Sunday we headed to Six Flags America in Maryland which was less than 1/2 hr away before returning home Sunday evening.

Great location

Location of hotel was in a good neighborhood. There was a nice biking trail close by that was nice to run on. It was a nice small walk to the metro. There was a mall nearby and a good assortment of places to eat at. The staff were all very friendly and accomadating to any needs we had.

Bad Experience

The hotel was well located for our needs and we had stayed there last year. This year we went for the US Open and the hotel was a big disappointment. The tub did not drain properly, we had no cold water but a dangerous amount of hot. For some reason housekeeping refused to leave soap so we were forced to get by on paper thin soap bars. They did not make up the room until late in the afternoon after I had requested it. Advising the main desk of these problems resulted in no corrective action. I can only conclude that by prepaying for a room results in the worst room in the house with the poorest service. My son ended up with two bed bug bites on his stomach. Not a good experience this trip. Perhaps this property is in financial difficulty and that is why the have deferred maintaince in plumbing and stingy on the soap. I paid the same rate every day but did not receive the same level of expectation every day. Does not sound fair.

pleasantly suprised

I was very happy with this hotel. The rooms are very nice along with comfortable beds, the people were very pleasant and helpful (one waiter named Thomas even walked us down to a grocery store since it was 10:30 at night and helped with selections and then even walked us back to the hotel even though he was parked by the store - he was so nice and wouldn't take anything in return), it is also very close to the metro which we learned to use, other resturants are close by and just overall very happy with our expierence. If I have one negative, we felt the in house resturant was a little slow on getting the food out even when very little people around but must admit the food was very good when we finally did get it. I definately would reccommend this hotel.

Stay at Westin Arlington Gateway

We enjoyed our stay at the Westin during our visit to DC. With access to the subway system only a few blocks away, it was easy for us to start our day and hit all of the sights! Cosi, on the way to the Metro, was our breakfast of choice each morning. The restaurant on the ground floor of the Westin fell short of our expectations. We stood by the main entrance for a few minutes (the one with the computer screen) and then had to enter the restaurant and walk by the bar before the hostess even noticed us. If it wasn't for the coupon we received from a website selling discounted coupons, we would have found another place to eat dinner. Back to the hotel....nice and comfortable bed, quiet room, and good shower. Downfalls... no Splenda for coffee and no MSNBC on the tv.
