trip was good, hotel so-so
Mother and daughter traveling buddies Nov 18, 2009
The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The problems were with noisy garbage trucks early in the morning, noisy guests late ... at night and the ice machine right across the hall being used constantly. On the plus side, they did offer to move us to another room and they did "beef up" security to handle the loud guests.

The hotel staff was very helpful however, when I checked in the male on duty said my room number out loud while another hotel ... guest waited in line The room faced another building but was very clean. I enjoyed the size and the comfort of the room. Coffee was available in the morning, unfortunately, not in the room. A coffee/tea bar was set up in the "living room" lobby. In the evening free wine tasting was offered. The entrance to the hotel is on the bottom floor. The desk was not staffed with the bellman, as I expected. The elevator brought the hotel guest to the fourth floor where the check-in desk, restaurant and "living room" lobby is located. The Metro station is in very short walking distance. The blue and orange line bring the Washington visitor to many attractions. Overall, it is a very nice hotel and the majority of the staff was very kind and helpful. I would stay at the hotel again on another visit to Washington.

The hotel is a short walk from the Rosslyn Metro station. The trains at Rosslyn take you quickly and rather inexpensively to lots of area attractions. From the hotel, you can also take a leisurely stroll across the Key Bridge over to Georgetown where there are ample dining and shopping opportunities.

Honestly I don't have a single complaint about this place! Stayed here for 3 nights and was sad to leave. Their gym is ... FABULOUS. It has tons of cardio and weight training machines, plus lots of free weights. The location almost can't be beat, as it is only a block and a half to the Rosslyn metro station, which is one of the main hubs for the metro. It is also less than a ten minute walk across the Key Bridge into Georgetown. The staff is great, and respond to every request in a timely manner. I can't wait to stay here again!

The river view might not be worth the extra money. You can see the river, but you have to look past the roof of the building ... and all the HVAC stuff to enjoy it. I can appreciate the hotel's efforts to be environmentally friendly; but if you have more than 2 people staying in the room it might be a constant battle to get enough towels.

Because we stayed busy sightseeing, it was to some extent a nicer Hotel than we needed. The "in house" restaurant is ... ridculously overpriced, as is the $5/15 minutes rate for using the business center computer. They actually lost money that we would have spent at more reasonable rates.

Very clean - near metro - never had to take cab or drive my rental car. Appreciated the discount weekend parking rate - that ... was a first! Two drawbacks - had an adjoining room and could hear some talking from time to time through door. Next time I'd make sure to ask for non adjoining room. Second - very minor - not enough towel bars in bathroom. Overall very good and I'd stay there again.

Great Hotel, Excellent Location
Wedding Go'er Sep 28, 2009
Hotel Palomar - Arlington was a recommended hotel for a friends wedding. It was a great location and the rooms had nice ... calming decor. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. My requests were immediatly granted any time I called the front desk. We also really enjoyed the wine reception. A lot of us had come from out of town for the wedding, so having a hotel sponsored happy hour fit perfectly into our plans (the wine reception had nothing to do with the wedding, they always do it!). Definitely recommending this property to anyone staying in the Arlington area.

The good and the not so good
New DC Lover Sep 10, 2009
We were in town to see the sites. This hotel is perfectly located about 1-1/2 blocks from the Rosslyn Metro Station. From ... there, it is super easy to get around DC. The staff were friendly, room was quiet and clean and we enjoyed the free tea in the mornings. However, the thermostat didn't quite work and the front desk employee only apologized. He didn't offer to fix it or compensate. Also, the only other 2 things that would make this hotel a complete 5 star experience for us would have been a complementary breakfast and a pool. Other than that it was a great place to stay!

The only places to eat within a couple blocks of this hotel are McDonald's, Cosi, and Chipotle. Georgetown is just across the Key Bridge. It is worth the walk or $1 shuttle fee to enjoy the MANY shops and eateries.

Nice Romantic Getaway
Jainawho Sep 8, 2009
We really enjoyed our four nights at this hotel for a romantic getaway. We had a suite with a giant jetted tub. The hotel was ... very quiet and one block from the Metro. Nice part of town and there is a drug store and McDonalds across the street. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. There was even an umbrella in the closet for use during our stay! Not sure if we would stay here with our two young children, as there was no pool and the restaurant had a very limited (but tasty) menu. But it was perfect for a romantic getaway!

We flew into National Airport, rode the Metro to the hotel and everywhere else during our four day stay. It was very cheap, clean, and efficient. The station is only one block from the hotel and the trains run every 10 minutes or so. It was easy to get anywhere in DC quickly.

Great if you get a room above 8th floor
First time to Washington Sep 6, 2009
The hotel was extremely convenient to buses and train metro. $1 to Georgetown on the blue bus was great for Restaurants(LA ... MADELINE FOR BREAKFAST), sightseeing, shopping etc. While there you can buy a two day pass ($32)on double decker sightseeing bus on/off at all Washington,DC sights. Since the weather was delightful we enjoyed being outdoors. We visited all places of interest in DC,took the metro to Mount Vernon, and Old Alexandria, Va. Washington is amazing, clean, beautiful with very friendly helpful residents. Since we now live in Dallas, and are former New Yorkers our comments are valid. What we didn't like about the hotel was that even though we paid for a deluxe room and requested an upper floor, they put us on the 6th floor (lobby is on the 4th). Our view was the roof of another part of the structure with a lovely city and river view. Being on at least the 8th floor would have been great. The hotel was pretty empty so that was not a factor. The maid kept coming very early even though we told her to come back at a later time. The suite was very small for 3 adults. Once the sofabed was made up, it was never closed so we could not use the Living area? The front desk and conciere were helpful, but we had to ask for brochures. With all these negatives, we still enjoyed the hotel. It's clean, new and very well cared for.
