Key Bridge Holiday Inn

This hotel has a wonderful location ... just steps from the Metro and an easy walk across the Key Bridge from Georgetown (which I thought was shallow in its trendiness). A Safeway on nearby Wilson Blvd was nice to have, but the 17th floor restaurant was affordable and offered a fine view. Of course I had a wonderful view of the Potomac, the Key Bridge, and the rowing team hard at training. I witnessed a biking race from my balcony. I was a little reluctant to use the balcony for fear that the teaming security personnel in the DC area might take me for an assassin. The room had a nice desk and even a phonebook. The most negative thing that I can say is that the room doors were much too loud when closed. I can't imagine that I am the only one who would complain about this.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

I was able to walk from the hotel, across Key Bridge, along the C. & O. Canal, along the Potomac by the Watergate and the Kennedy Center, to the Lincoln Memorial in about an hour.

Family trip

Very close to Metro, great staff, great breakfast buffet. Cafe has very good burgers on the 1st floor. Pool and workout area very nice. Best of all, very QUIET! Very little street noise and rooms are comfortable and quiet. Better than staying in Crystal City, which is farther away.

Unusual Room

The hotel only provided one bar of soap and nothing else. Could be an oversight not sure. Another interesting thing is that the facet in the bathroom was opposite of right cold, left hot.

Easy for DC

Nice in spite of the remodeling - but that means it will be even better! We were on the 13th floor - neat view off the balcony, easy parking, easy on/off to the National Mall as well as Dupont Circle. The metro was super close by, but we didn't use it this time. Nice buffet breakfast for Priority Club members on the top floor observation restaurant. Comfortable, clean, reliable - just what I expect from Holiday Inn!

Great location for first time visit to DC

Rooms are nice and clean, parking garage included, close to Metro, did not have to use car @ all. Only could find fast food close to hotel( although formal dining on 17th floor of hotel) so sit down meals you want to have in Washington.

great location

This is an older hotel that shows its age but it is a very good value for the Washington, DC area. It is one block from the metro and one bridge from Georgetown. It has free parking.

Great Value, perfect location.

There are only a few things I look for in a hotel, apart from the basic services. I want something with a good location. The Holiday Inn-Rosslyn gets tops marks for that. Right on the Potomac and only a block or two from a Metro station that can get you anywhere you need to go in the area. It is a two dollar subway ride from Reagan International to the hotel. Also within walking distance is a grocery store, a drug store, and a handful of fast food and sit down restaurants. The neighborhood itself is upscale, and you don't feel scared to walk the streets at night. And in this day and age I try to find something with free internet, which the hotel provides with a good signal all hours of the day. I was able to watch streaming video with no buffering at all. The beds were comfortable, they offered firm and soft pillows. The balcony was nice though I wish there was at least a small table and chair on them to enjoy the view. The hotel also featured a fitness room freed to guests (the last few hotels I stayed in I had to pay an additional fee to use the gym) and a pool. On the negative side, as some reviewers comments before, the hotel has been doing some renovations and there are little things that stuck out in my room: there was a half inch gap between the carpet and the threshold of the room's foyer. The sink faucets have been mounted too close to the wall so it is hard to reach the stopper plunger. The bathrooms seemed very cramped (though the heat lamp made the chilly spring mornings tolerable, and the second sink outside the main bath made getting ready for the day with my wife and son much easier.. But these were only tiny distractions that really did not affect the enjoyment of my vacation. A big negative though was the restaurant. The only plus was the view. Beyond that the food was bland. My salad was swimming in the water they used to rinse the vegetables, and my wife's steak was burned. And the service was just terrible. We didn't try them for the breakfast buffet, so I can't comment on that. But I was really let down for the one meal we ate there. (Luckiy there are more than enough options in the area or a metro stop away to not even concern yourself with it. Thy do have another cafe where you can get quick sandwiches and such, but he only thing we ordered there were milkshakes and they were decent enough.) Overall I would reccomend the hotel, the general staff is friendly and helpful. The location is top notch and the value was just what we needed. Our average was 115.00 a night in the middle of spring break, during the peak of Cherry Blossom season. In DC you can't go wrong with that. You can find hotels down closer to the museums and monuments, but you are going to pay for them. Stay here and get a weeklong Metro pass and you are covered for unlimited trips anywhere you need to go.The Iwo Jima memorial is a ten minute walk away. The Smithsonian metro stop is ten to fifteen minutes by subway, Arlington national cemetary is the next stop down the line. Also Georgetown is just a five minute cab ride across the Key bridge.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Rays Heck Burgers (name censored to protect the innocent) is about a ten to fifteen minute walk from the hotel. Really great burgers, but remember that they only take cash. Also a short metro ride down to Clarendon will get you to Rays: The Steaks. It's a really decent, well priced steakhouse (My family of three ate there for less than 150.00 including a bottle of wine.)

Annual DC Trip

The location a was very good. There was air traffic noise but you got used to it. It was a block and a half from the subway station and there were plenty of food choice well within walking distance.

The best tip is the distance to the subway station from there you can get to anything inside DC or in the outskirts of Virginia or Maryland.
