Wyndham Old Town Alexandria

Can't beat staying at the Wyndham, the amenities were perfect...just like home. We traveled daily to DC via the Metro which was conveniently located across the street. At night we enjoyed King street, from the free trolly to the many wonderful restaurants and the waterfront. The condo was spacious, clean and was equipped with everything one would need while away even a beautiful jacuzzi to relax in after a busy day touring Washington. Can't wait to return.

Room was fabulous - King Suite - very clean - quiet - beautiful neighborhood. Staff was helpful - I wasn't aware before that it caters to time shares, vacation rentals so I was asked to meet with staff for about an hour to discuss potential sales - I couldn't do it since all time was scheudled at a meeting and they were not at all aggressive. Wish I could stay there everytime I travel to DC

The Wyndham in Alexandria, a very historical city in itself, is steps away from the King Street free trolley. We used it in the evenings after returning from Washington. There are plenty of restaurants and shops on King Street. We were all pleased with this resort. It is also across the street from the King Street Metro, which is a great way to travel to Washington, Arlington and Mount Vernon.

Wonderful surprise to find jacuzzi in room and shared patio. Great location, close to Amtrak and Metro. Staff were very friendly. Only downsides were firm bed, small pool with infinite rules, and too many calls from member services asking us to do their survey (the calls stopped when we gave a firm no).

Lots of great shops, restaraunts and pubs - all in walking distance! If you don't want to walk, there is a free trolley that will take you up and down the full length of King Street. It's also only a block from the Metro station - easy access to the sights, businesses and the airport. Great trip - even in the cold weather.

This is more of a timeshare hotel. So the rooms have kitchens and dining rooms. Plenty of space for a family. The only negative was that the room for paying customers were not ready until 4:00 p.m. If you were a Wyndham member your rooms are available at 2:00. So its a little bit of wasted time. Other than that, staff was great especially the conciegre who got us VIP service at the Chart House Restaurant.

This one room luxury condo was just that, luxury. A full kitchen, jacuzzi tub, walk in shower, full living room, 2 flat screens and a king sized bed made this place outstanding. My only suggested change, albeit a small one, is that check-in and check-out tend to be an hour earlier and later than the norm (4pm and 10am).

For convenience to Amtrak and Metro, this place is almost unbeatable; however, that same proximity means that some of the rooms face the train tracks. I had one of those rooms, and sometimes the train whistles and squealing brakes were annoying. However, the trains don't run all night so I was able to get plenty of rest. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, and would be great for a long-term stay. Very nice.

This review is a warning to users regarding both Orbitz and the Wyndham hotel in Alexandria. Upon arrival (after a midnight flight arrival) at the hotel, I discovered at 1am that the hotel was oversold and had "arranged" for me to stay in some run-down dump of a motel about 6 miles further out of town. After being given a copy of an internal email from the hotel, I discovered that the hotel did not want to honor the rate it advertised and Orbitz scrambled to ensure that I was accommodated in a shabby run-down dump of a motel. I have used Orbitz for many years and have never encountered a problem until now. Due to this unbelievably poor experience (and outright lies that I would be contacted by an Orbitz representative to explain the screwup), I will neither use Orbitz nor recommend that anyone stay at the Wyndham in Old Town Alexandria. The customer service was poor, at the very best, and the night staff were unbelievably uncommunicative and represent everything I hate about the East Coast (i.e., unfriendly, unreceptive, unintelligent, etc.). The only reason I gave the hotel a 1-star is because the review website will not allow me to enter no stars.
