Disgusting
The only good thing about this hotel (besides the location) was that there was someone available when we checked in at 12:15 am (although the plexiglass check-in window was a little creepy as well as the outside boarded-up windows). The room was extremely unclean. The chest that housed the t.v. had a layer of dust on it that looked like it had been there for 6 months. There was a white dripping substance on the nightstand and the freezer ice in the refrigerator was black. There was also hair on the bathroom floor and a very dank smell to the whole room. The noises from the outside street did not allow for a good night's sleep. I would not recommend this hotel if you want to enjoy Alexandria.

It was ok
The hotel was quaint and was decent. Staff was very nice. The walls are thin though and the water was chalky.

Manager even lent me his laptop
Spacious, clean room, comfortable bed, fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Convenient to DC Metro (one stop down from National Airport), plenty of restaurants nearby and even a Trader Joe's supermarket. So far, all good, but here is what really blew me away: When my own laptop crashed, I went to the manager to ask if there was any way I could use a computer in the office to check my email. He went one better. He actually gave me his laptop to take to my room. That's a level of service I have never experienced before, not even at hotels 5x the price. Thank you Raja!

Gettting Mom to DC
Alexandria is a charming town. I took my mom to see D.C. We were in walking distance to the train, Kinkos for my work stuff, and Starbucks for blueberry muffins and coffee. Beds were clean and comfortable, small area for "kitchen duty", but microwave and frig with coffee pot was a perk for my mom. Bathroom clean, but sink area was small. No room for "girl stuff". Staff available and helpful, especially when I needed extra towels and help with working the T.V. remote. Overall, I would stay again.

Went for DC, discovered Alexandria
The room rate was great. The exterior is evidently next for updating because the interior in our room was modernized. Be sure to bring your own shampoo. We fell in love with Alexandria from the multitude of eating choices on King Street to the artist enclave at the Torpedo Factory. Duke Street has some great looking row houses. A block from the Towne is the Royal Restaurant. It's been in bussiness since 1904 and serves B,L,&D. I had a great Reuben there and they serve American, Greek, and italian foods.

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
King Street dining ranges from Mom & Pop sandwich shops to gormet establishments with the full range of reasonable prices. I saw too many diferent cuisines to recount. We chose to drive and park in the area instead of walking.

Great Bargain
The motel room was clean. The smallness of the room was no problem because we were only in the room long enough to get a good nights rest--thankfully the beds were very comfortable--. We enjoyed the short walk to King St. and the Metro. The motel is clean, convenient and very affordable. Would recommend to our friends and would return.

Comfortable and convenient for the price
Stayed five nights. Hotel was located in the Old Towne area of Alexandria. Walking distance to Metro trains to DC Mall & Smithsonian. A few blocks from the quaint Old Towne shopping district. Room included refrigerator, ironing board and microwave. Only one chair, and small table/desk. For the price, I doubt you can do much better if you're interested in the monument areas of DC.

"Can't judge by outside"
I was attending a funeral in Alexandria. I had never been to Alexandria and unsure of area that motel was located. The outside of the motel was extremely in need of repair. The front check-in was alittle scary talking to the manager through plexiglass. As a woman by myself, I did not feel secure there. The room inside was newly remodled with nice linens, clean sheets, clean bathroom--a total surprise. Beds comfortable-almost new!

Towne at Alexandria
Towne Motel was much better than expected, the room clean and comfortable. Its location at the tip of north Alexandria on Washington Ave. makes the Motel a short direct ride to Ronald Reagan Airport and Washington DC even with rush hour traffic. A very good return for the price on a 5 day stay of work on the DC area.
