Conveniently located to Old Town!

For my first time staying in Alexandria, I found this hotel to be very conveniently located to Old Town. The staff was very accomodating and friendly and obviously were knowedgable of the area. I would have liked if there had been a restaurant inside the restaurant, as the closest restaurants are a walk down the street. I found that my room was very quiet, and very clean. I would definitely stay at this hotel again

NICE HOTEL BUT LACKS AMENITIES

The hotel was very nice and clean. The rooms were spacious. Location not near town, but ok if you have transportation. Four problems: 1.) We booked the stay through o---ts, where we requested a smoking room. When we arrived, we found the hotel was smoke free. We probably would have booked elsewhere informed us that our request could not be met. 2.) The elevators in the this hotel are very odd. Only one went to the ground floor garage. If the wrong one came to our floor, we had to get out on the first floor and wait for the other to take us to the garage, or walk around the other side of the lobby to walk down stairs, outside and then back into the garage. Very poorly planned. 3.) The hallway for the third floor was freezing. Even though we complained several times, this was never fixed. 4.) The second night 2 buses with high school kids showed up. They would make noise in the hallways, going between rooms to after midnight. For groups like this, the chaperons should be responsible to keep them quiet.

Fantastic staff and value

The location was great! Nice area and just down the street from the Metro and the hotel has a complimentary shuttle to the station. The room was clean and the staff was amazing! The breakfast had a lot to offer, so we ate a nice meal every morning before heading into the city. We were very happy with our stay and definitely recommend it!

Great family getaway

A total delightful and refreshing stay. One could not ask for more. The view was magnificent, the easy on access to roadways was definitely a plus and allowed for travel to near by sites, great restaurants and of course to the nations capital without all of the crazy traffic on experiences while in D.C.

Good outweighs the bad

We arrived at 11pm after a full day of work and we were greeted with a large attitude- as if we were a burden for checking in. However, the day time staff made up for the rude lady who greeted us the night before. The breakfast is just ok. The eggs are cubed and processed and the sausage should just not be eaten. The rest is decent. The shuttle was ALWAYS there within minutes of needing it- whether going to the shuttle or coming back to the hotel. Nice perk. There was no lotion in the bathrooms free amenities...not a big deal- just a disclaimer to bring your own. Other upsides are free wi-fi, free parking, free shuttle, and free breakfast. Overall, Well worth the price and the little extra commute. It only took about 30 minutes to ride the metro into DC.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

A short 3 minute drive down Eisenhower has a small eating center with Teds, Delias, Cold Stone, etc. We ate at that center 3 times while we were there!

Comfortable Stay

Person at the front desk helped me with the computer and getting boarding passes. Good breakfast, nice rooms. Nice walk to the metro but always a shuttle if needed.

Excellent hotel

We've stayed here twice and at three Residence Inns in the Alexandria area. This is a little further out, but all have transportation to the Metro. Staff has been terrific. We had a room that had one bathroom with a toilet and sink and another with a sink and shower, which was very convenient. My wife loves the modern decor. Room is very comfortable in all respects. We've ruled out the Residence Inn on Duke because of queen beds only, but it has the best locale. When choosing between the two others and this, it has come down to price, and SpringHill seems like the best deal.
