Home for Xmas
My wife and I spent the night before Xmas here; we were among not-many guests, but the staff was friendly, the breakfast next morning (scrambled eggs, bacon, potato patties, waffles, etc.) was bountiful; and the price was very good. My only caution is to ask for a room on the back side of the hotel; on the front there is considerable noise from Van Dorn St.--only some attributable to reindeer.

too close to a busy high way
The hotel is too close to a busy high way. 1st night I stayed on 3nd floor facing high way and was waked up many times by the traffic.

Very comfortable getaway
When we arrived, we were upgraded to a suite with a view of Van Dorn Street. It was very roomy. The shuttle made the trip to the Metro easy. Breakfast varied every morning and was always kept full. When I made the reservations, I searched for a pool, but neglected to check ahead to see if it was open. At the end of touring every day, a jacquizzi would have been perfect, but there are none in the hotel.

Entirely satisfactory
I booked this room the day I needed it, based on price and location. I got there at 9 PM, and left right after breakfast, so my experience is limited, but I found it entirely satisfactory: There is plenty of free parking. The room was clean and quiet, the bathroom well equipped with towels and toiletries; the WiFi worked flawlessly; the breakfast dining room is large and attractive. I only drank coffee, but the food looked very good (sausage and eggs, grits, donuts, bagels and the like). I would definitely pay a modest premium to stay there again.

The good and the bad.
While the hotel room was very clean, the walls were VERY thin and we could hear conversations from next door. Also, very noisy upstairs neighbors (thumping feet) which made it difficult to sleep.

Good Value, Good Location
Conveniently located off 395 with shopping and dining nearby. Room was clean and had a kitchenette. Minor issue with room (missing TV remote) was remedied quickly. Desk staff were friendly and helpful. The only negative aspect is that it is a little difficult to make a left turn into the hotel property from the road because there is only one entrance and there is a lot of traffic on that street. I would recommend this hotel for someone who wants to stay in the Alexandria area and would like a hotel with room amenities but also free parking.

Exactly what we needed
My wife was there for a conference and I came along to watch our new baby. The room was perfect, especially the kitchette for storing and warming the baby's milk. The breakfasts saved us a lot of time and were better than expected. The evening drinks and food was a nice touch too but we didn't take advantage too often since we are both vegetarian. The only down side for our situation was it took over an hour to get into DC for the conference each day via the train. If you are keeping around the area or only traveling occasionally it would have been perfect. The workout room was pretty good for a hotel except the weight machine could use some repair.

Short drive from hotel
Not exactly as short as the hotel says, but the food in old town is worth the drive. Not a lot of great food near by the hotel.
