Nice stay at Embassy Suites
I never stayed in the Alexandria, VA area before, but I would recommend to anyone to have a GPS in your car. I cannot tell you how much frustration that saves you. Downtown is an obstacle course of traffic and road construction. The Hotel is above par and the staff was very helpful. My wife lost a button on the formal outfit she was wearing and the Hotel staff run up a sewing kit to our room to take care of the problem. The parking is quite expensive--$24 a night, so that will be a surprise expense if you stay in Old Town. But it is peace of mind and convenient to your vehicle. The breakfast was a great experience, and was cooked to order, plus all you can eat and drink for free. If you have kids, this is a incredible value. Nice indoor atrium restaurant allows you eat casual and kids can wear their PJ's saving parents one more headache of getting kids ready/dressed. We would stay here again without hesitation!!!

the location was perfect, we were traveling with a family member in a wheel chair and the hotel shuttle, the metro and trolley were all there and easily accessible. The hotels breakfast and omlete cooker/nighttime bartender "Pat" is a true assest to this hotel. Old Alexandria is within walking distance and D.C. is 15mins by metro

Great Stay
perfect location right across the street from a DC Metro station makes the hotel very convenient to all the attractions in DC and Old Town Alexandria. Plus the nightly manager's reception with free drinks and snacks and the made to order complimentary breakfast makes this a hard to beat value!

great stay, bad traffic
i had a great time in D.C as i went to watch the football match between Manchester United and F.C barcelona. The hotel is well placed next to the metro train station so you can hop into D.C. and surrounding towns easily but you just have to be patient. They always have the Comp buffet breakfast and manager's reception but now they serve you the breakfast unlike at other ES hotels were you serve yourself at the buffet, and also all the drinks are free except the mixed drinks are $3 a pop. i have never had to pay for drinks at any E.S i stayed at and this is my 6th time in 2yrs using this chain. The beds are confortable and the rooms are cleam and this is an ideal hotel for families and for friends who are traveling.

if you do not want to deal with the D.C. traffic due to condtruction or everyday demonstration/marches,and the lack of parking in D.C, the hotel is placed right next to a metro train station and it takes you everywhere from the monuments to arlington to redskins stadium.

Nice place to stay!
This hotel is right across the street from the Metro to Washington DC and right near King Street in Alexandria. The daily breakfast is so convenient. We have stayed here before because of the convenience and the nice facility.

Nice Hotel, Great Value
This was my second time staying at the Embassy Suites Alexandria - Old Town and it was another successful stay. Located by the far end of King Street, it provides wonderful access to shops and restaurants to browse and eat at. There is a Whole Foods about a block away too. Also, there is a DC Metro station right across the street, as well as a parking garage right next door. Be aware, the parking garage is operated by the city, not the hotel. It's an additional $24.00 to park there overnight. The parking garage is really, really tight too. Don't plan on bringing a large vehicle without a headache. The hotel rooms are suite style, with a separate living area and bedroom area, which is nice. You almost never see this kind of room for the price. There is a love seat which pulls out into a bed, an arm chair, an older style flat screen tv, and a little dining table with chairs. There is also a bar area with a mini-fridge and microwave. The hotel also offers a LARGE and FREE breakfast everyday. It's not just coffee, muffins, and fruit. It's one of the main reasons why I choose to come back to this hotel. There is a pool and fitness center too, which I have never seen or used. The beds are good in terms of comfort and the bathroom is okay, but great water pressure from the shower. Service was friendly. The front desk offered free maps and recommendations on places to see and eat at. Besides trying to beat the hectic traffic to get to the location of this hotel, it's a great place and I'd definitely recommend staying there if you're going to Alexandria.

Clean and friendly staff
We absolutely loved this hotel! The rooms were extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable. The only complaint I have is that the top sheet was thinning and had some small holes in it. They need to replace them when they reach this point... If you've never been to Washington D.C. before I'd recommend staying at a hotel closer to the tourist sites since this hotel is about 20 -30 minutes away by metro. Alexandria itself is very quiet and boring (in our opinion), but the hotel is right across the street from the metro making transportation into the D.C. area very convenient. There is also a Whole Foods Market about 1 1/2 blocks away. Breakfasts were also fantastic and included in the room price. The staff were extremely friendly(reception, housekeeping, and the breakfast staff).

Good, But Not Flawless
I was looking for a nearby hotel for my wife and I to spend the night after our wedding (our honeymoon, so to speak, though we returned to our family and job responsibilities the next day and plan to do something grander when we have more time and money). I wanted to reserve at Morrison House in Alexandria but waited too late. Embassy Suites was available on short notice for an acceptable price and did a good job. I had previously stayed with them at other locations when traveling as a high school coach and on business. Embassy Suites Alexandria did a good job, but not flawless. The experience was what you expect after you've stayed with them one time -- a living room and bedroom that can hold a family or be used as a meeting room or office for business, grouped around an atrium, with a cooked-to-order breakfast included. Pretty, well-executed, consistent, and flexible for diverse types of guests, but fairly corporate and lacking character. A few things that got my attention, in no particular order: 1. I had to hit the door of my room with my shoulder to open it, it was stuck so tight. The key cards also did not work consistently, sometimes they would flash green and other times they would not. 2. I strongly suspect that they do it for security reasons, but it's a little weird how you need to take one elevator to get to the restaurant or parking garage and a different elevator to get to your room. In other words, to go from our room to the restaurant I went down to the ground floor, walked across the atrium, then took a different elevator to go back up to what looked like exactly the same level as my room. Ten minutes later we repeated the process in reverse to go back to our room with our drinks. Safer? Probably, but it still felt weird. 3. The bathrooms have cool, modern lines with the towels rolled up in little cubbyholes below the counter. But it's not obvious what you're supposed to do with them after you use them -- there are no towel bars or racks. If you wanted them dry for next time, you could drape them over the shower curtain bar, or the toilet, or lay them out flat on the counter. If you didn't care, you could just drop them on the floor. All of these choices seemed to defeat the purpose of the cool, modern design -- it was like they forced you to be messy. 3. The pool is nice, but the spa/hot tub seems poorly thought out. It only hold four people, which with Embassy Suites' clientele basically equals one family. Also the water was barely warm, less than a hot bath or an outdoor pool in Alexandria in August. 4. Having the hotel information in English and Spanish is a nice touch, but the TV channel lineup is 100% English. Washington and its suburbs get a lot of international visitors, but you wouldn't know it from the TV at Embassy Suites. Living here, I know that Washington has several over-the-air Spanish-language channels, as well as local programming in many other languages, and obviously satellite and cable give the people who live in Alexandria access to hundreds of channels. It seems short-sighted that a hotel competing for travelers cannot do as well. But all this is fairly minor stuff. Embassy Suites in general is good, and I don't regret my decision to stay at this particular location.

Don't forget to wear something on your feet when you use the buffet in the morning. I forgot my sandals and I walked around the hotel barefoot the night before. Walking around the same space 8 hours later got me sent back to my room to put my shoes on.

Good Location, Nice Amenities
Although all my business meetings were in Washington, DC proper, hotel rooms there were very limited and expensive. The embassy suites worked out great though since it is a block from a metro station on the yellow line. I also flew into National Airport so I was at the hotel within 15 minutes.

This was the first time I stayed in this area when traveling to DC for business and I will remember it for next time. I like using the subway to get around town and the Embassy Suites is a block from the King Street station. A pretty part of Alexandria.
