stayed here for the pool....but disapointed

The room was good, the breakfast was good, the staff was helpful...But I Specifically stayed here for the water park feature/pool...so i paid extra to stay here....the water was so cold that my little girl could only stay in for 20 minutes....and the chlorine was so strong that you could hardly stand to stay in the pool area very long. them letting birthday parties and outside users into the pool made for a very crowded pool area....Don't think i will be paying extra to stay here again.

Waterslide closed on weekdays

The main reason we stayed at this hotel was for the waterslide and kids pool area. But we were very disappointed to find out that they don't operate on the weekdays. We also requested a crib when making the reservation, but when we showed up, they claimed that they didn't get the crib request, and they didn't have any cribs available. So we asked if we could switch to a room with 2 Queen beds or get a rollaway bed, but they wanted to charge us ten dollars extra, even though Orb itz showed the Queen rooms were actually ten dollars cheaper.

Business Trip

The hotel staff was great. The room was clean and the amenities were fine. I wish they had healthier food options for breakfast though. In addition, I had a 2 bedroom room and both beds were saggy and had depressions in them. So that was a bit uncomfortable. Other than that, the place was just fine.

Great Time!

The only thing that kept me from giving this stay a perfect rating was the noise in the hallway. I had to put earplugs in at 2 in the morning. Other than that, we had a great time. We will be returning to this hotel.

Weekend Getaway

The hotel was new & clean with attractive modern furnishings & decor. Breakfast was simple, but tasty & sufficient. The pool & water slides was by far the best part for the kids. It was especially nice to have such a large shallow area of the pool for the little kids to safely plan in with their own little "water park" complete with slides. There were also several family-friendly restaurants just down the road.

Poor Customer service.

The hotel staff was very unfriendly. We went to get snacks across the parking lots at their suites and my son wanted pop corn and they told me they didn't have a microwave to pop it that they had one at the hotel. We went back across the street to the hotel and they told me that they gave all their microwaves to the apartments and that I had to go back across the parking lot to the suites to pop it. With 2 kids it was rather annoying to have to go back and forth. If they don't have microwaves then do sell the popcorn! Then we had a guy in the room next to ours snored really loud all night long keep up awake. Their rooms aren't very sound proof at all.

Nice Place

The staff were woderful, very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was nice, the water was always hot, the rooms were very clean, the beds were extremely comfortable and my fiance loved the flat screen TV in the room. The water park was ok, the hot tub/spa was very nice. The water was cloudy in the pools and we had to grab a boy who was in the deep pool who was going under water, (in front of the life guard) and help him back to his mother who was frantic. My fiance's daughter wasn't fond of the kiddie play area of the pool, so it wasn't worth staying there for the water park. Other than that, our stay was enjoyable.

The Gateway Discovery Museum was a fun kid's activity for part of the day...then many stores to shop in all around it...and an Imax theater in the same area also.

The good, the bad, and the sad

We stayed just one night on Friday, April 9, 2010. 2 adults and one 6 year old boy. Checked in at 3:30pm, room was great-nice & clean, staff friendly, nice modern look to hotel, great bed & pillows. We played games in the game-room, it was fun, but a bit overpriced. Went swimming that night, and it was WAY overcrowded, beyond pools stated capacity of 75, there were 104 people, & Manager told me they don't have to kick people out until it's a fire hazard at 115 people. Pool was FREEZING, was told heating system cannot keep up with high capacity. Manager told me that it's that way every FRI & SAT. night, so don't go to this hotel then! Also, there were no towels available at the pool all night because they were "in the dryer" & still weren't put out 20 minutes later when they said they would be. Water slide line was crazy, freezing kids waiting in a line of 11 people, and then was closed down 15 minutes on every hour, because "one of the lifeguards called in sick that night." If the staff knows of all but one of these pool problems that happen every weekend night, then why not try to correct them?? Especially for those families who chose the hotel specifically because of the heated waterpark with the slide? (ie. The staff could have told us that there were no towels that night, so we knew to bring our room towels down.)You can go to many hotels and get a nice room and breakfest buffet cheaper than this price point, in fact a heated pool on top of that for a cheaper price point. Until they fix the pool problems, definitely not worth it. As a side note, staff also needs to prevent kids from running up and down the hallways, put a sign up, remind parents, something, because it was pretty noisy in the late pm and early am hours.[...]Breakfest buffet was good. Rooms were good, view was horrible of powerlines, but what do you expect, you are in West Valley City. If you are choosing this hotel on a FRI. or SAT. for their "fun waterpark and heated pool" DON'T. You will be disappointed. No money was given back upon check out for bad experience, just $30 off a future stay. And, to top it all off, we left our nice coutoured-neck, memory foam pillow with a nice pillow case from home there in the closet, by accident, and upon calling the staff and cleaning staff a few hours later, when we realized it wasn't in our car, we were told that it was nowhere to be found, not in the Lost & Found, and it wasn't in the room. They had already cleaned the room and not reported it there. Obviously, one of the cleaning staff will be enjoying a nice pillow!
