Great location, great hotel
Next door to the Family History Library, across the street from Temple Square, the Plaza is the place to stay in Salt Lake City. Very clean with friendly and helpful staff, comfortable beds, a microwave and refrigerator in each room, and free wireless internet (although it is rather slow). I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Fantastic location and comfortable hotel
Comfortable room and friendly helpful staff. Location was great. Right across from Temple Square and two blocks to mall for shopping. Only down side was in hotel restaurant which had great staff but mediocre food.

Temple Square great and if that not your "thing", shopping mall very close by. Skip the restaurant, mediocre food. You pay for parking, but it's minimal and you don't need your car while there. So park it and walk.

Mixed Feelings
Found it curious that the wifi is censored with blocked sites but understood that was the case as the hotel is owned by the Mormon church (now I know how the people in China feel). The TV in the room didn't work but they fixed it the next day. Those two things were the only things that impacted an otherwise good hotel experience.

Short walk from hotel
If you want to visit downtown Salt Lake City, this hotel is as close as you can get to the center of town. You can walk to so many of the tourist attractions like the Mormon Temple, the Beehive House, and the concert hall, convention center, play houses, and shopping until you drop places.

Good and Bad
I stayed there for two night. It was definitely unpleasant. At the first night, I was woke up by the itch on my shoulders and my hand. I turn on the light, and there was a few tiny bugs running on the pillow. I called the front desk, all they did was to send a security guy to my room and handed me a key for another room. The security guy didn't even know what was going on. As the matter of fact, he even told me that he was not working there. So I had to move to another room two o,clock in the morning without any assistant from the hotel. The next morning, when I talk to the front desk again, they didn't even know what happened in my room for that night. The guy I talked to in the morning said the manager will refund my money for that night. I told him that I was there not for the money, but for an apology. If not the manager, at least whoever I talked to should apologize to me in the first place. But NONE of them did that. The bugs had five bites on my shoulders and one bite on my hand. They are still itchy like hell now. If they think one night refund will make me happy, they are totally wrong. They could make me happier by the manager's personal apology, but they didn't. The manager has never shown up in front of me.

Good value
The Plaza Hotel at Temple Square was comfortable and provided sufficient space. Although I personally own an aircard, the availability of free wireless internet connection was extremely desirable. I can understand that the hotel has been around long enough and it does show its age. However, it is more than adequate for what I have to pay. The only negative comment I had was the fitness center. It is way too small; it has only one treadmill and nothing else. I don't know if it was because of the time of my travel (mid-December), the treadmill was available when I needed to use it. In general, more exercise equipment is needed. The tram station right in front of the hotel is an obvious plus. The staff was helpful and friendly. I was happy with my stay at the Plazs Hotel.

My review of Plaza Hotel at Temple Square
The Plaza Hotel is an excellent location if you are doing genealogy research at the History Library. Just walk out the back door and around the corner and you are there. The room was comfortable and it was helpful to have the wireless internet connection. It also has public transportation right in front. They also will transport you to a location (if the van is available) within a few block area if you want to go to another restaurant or event. A PERFECT HOTEL FOR THE LOCATION
