Plaza Hotel SLC

The hotel location is a definite advantage to anyone wanting to do research at the Family History Center Library and that is the only reason I would recommend it to anyone. The hotel suffers from its heating system which are very noisy heat pumps in each room. The toilet in my room also had problems flushing with two to four flushes required after each use. The hotel staff did work on it but to little or no avail. The hotel restaurant is poor quality factory food.

Romantic Get Away

The Hotel was fine, but they did not have us as having a reservation through your reservation system. I was not happy about that!

Location

The location was ideal for doing research at the Family History Library as it is right next door. The staff were friendly and very nice. The room was very small, and in need of updating but clean. The restaurant attached to the hotel was just ok. I preferred to eat at one of the many restaurants nearby.

Great Location

The hotel is very close to all the downtown activites and makes it easy to walk to your destination. Parking is an issue during busy times and the on site parking is a big advantage. Dining is attached but not excellent choice. Wonderful views from all floors. Would choose it again.

Good value

The Plaza Hotel at Temple Square was comfortable and provided sufficient space. Although I personally own an aircard, the availability of free wireless internet connection was extremely desirable. I can understand that the hotel has been around long enough and it does show its age. However, it is more than adequate for what I have to pay. The only negative comment I had was the fitness center. It is way too small; it has only one treadmill and nothing else. I don't know if it was because of the time of my travel (mid-December), the treadmill was available when I needed to use it. In general, more exercise equipment is needed. The tram station right in front of the hotel is an obvious plus. The staff was helpful and friendly. I was happy with my stay at the Plazs Hotel.

Close and convenient

The hotel was nice but not great. The room was clean and well kept but looked and felt exactly the same as any other hotel. However, the location can't be beat. It is literally across the street from Temple Square, and just down the road from the Energy Solutions Arena (Utah Jazz).

Convenient location close to Temple Square, light rail train, and shopping.

The room was small but adequate. It was clean. I was on the top floor. It was very quiet with nice views. With all the renovation in Salt Lake, it's hard to find a restaurant, but the JB's downstairs was okay, I guess. Right across the street from Temple Square--you can see it, sort of, from many of the rooms. There is lots of free entertainment on Temple Square (classical and religious music, mostly).

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

Across the street is Abravanel Hall where you can hear the world-class Utah Symphony. The hall has a Dale Chihuly glass sculpture. A fair amount of architecture, art, and history in a small space for a Western town.

Downtown Salt Lake City

I really enjoyed the location of this hotel. The staff were very helpful and the room had a couple of appliances that are very nice to have away from home (refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker). The only thing that was bothersome to me was that even though we got a non-smoking room it still smelled very much like smoke. After we aired it out we managed to identify the source of the smell: the next room with the conjoined door had a smoker in it. Perhaps the hotel can do a better job of sealing off individual rooms, or not conjoining smoking and non-smoking rooms.
