One of the nicer hotels downtown

Great hotel in a convenient location. Many of the hotels in downtown SLC are dated; the Monaco is not one of them. Will try to stay here next time.

accessing wifi costs extra, parking costs extra

As with many nice hotels that offer decent room rates, where they get you is with all the extras. Accessing WiFi in your room will cost you, parking at the hotel will cost you. They also fill your room with snacks, bottled water and other drinks--all of which will cost you (i.e., are overpriced). They do have a short menu of food available 24/7 via room service. The food is expensive and only mediocre, but in a bind its nice to fall back on. Hotel staff are super friendly and helpful. P.s. its a very hip hotel (you decide whether that carries a positive or negative connotation). They have yoga mats in each room (which you can use, but have to pay for) and red bikes with wicker baskets you can borrow to get around town (which, surprisingly, don't appear to cost you anything to use).

Seriously, we loved it!!

Great downtown corner boutique hotel in funky, but elegant art deco décor. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful even when our room wasn't quite ready upon arrival. There are places galore to eat and shop on Main (try Eva's!!#, and the big LDS church is 3 blocks to your left #when walking onto Main and facing across the street, walk left-north). The rooms were stylish, plush, and clean. The hotel restaurant, name slips my mind, is fabulous as well. Had a fantastic breakfast. Can't say enough, Perfect stay!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Try the burger joint right next door on Main. Very friendly, great local beers and grass fed beef. Eva- small plates venue is trendy with great food to back it up..1 block south. Eva has a sister restaurant 1/2 block north on Main that was THE best breakfast I've ever had, Eva's Bakery. French style patisserie. seriously, you won't regret it!!

Hotel with nice decoration

I really like the style of the decoration. It allows guests to bring their pet, and so I think it is good for people with pets. The restaurants at the hotel is really good, I strong recommend their breakfast. Dinner is very tasty but very expensive compared to their breakfast.

Nice hotel

The hotel room is nice and clean. The morning coffee and evening wine are a nice bonus. We were disappointed because I was traveling with a friend and we had clearly reserved a room with two double beds and they gave us a room with a king. They also charged us for items we did not use, so be sure and check your credit card after you leave. They said they will credit the account, so we will see. Still a hassle to have to call and argue over something we did not use and not get the room we reserved.

Good City Base for Ski Trip

Stayed 4 nights at the Hotel Monaco, a great old building right in the heart of SLC, 1 block away from their 'EVE' New Year's celebration. As this was a holiday week, service was just OK, had to wait for the room to be ready until 4:30. But they were friendly and tended to our needs well while we were there. The room, a Queen Suite, was fine but the sink in the bathroom was up quite high, needed a boost for the kids to brush their teeth. Hotel very convenient to a city bus that runs to the ski areas, which we did every day. All in all a good choice for those that want to stay in the city and get to the powder during the day.
