Close to slopes. Great staff. Quiet.

I stayed in a 1-bedroom with separate living area and kitchen over February break in 2012 for one week. I just got back last night. Room had two full bathrooms and a nice sized balcony. The balcony was shared with the next unit, although I never saw anyone on the balcony. I was in room 402A which faced away from the ski mountain, so the view was of the parking lot. No matter. Parking is free and is beneath the hotel. Hotel is about 35 minutes from SLC airport. Hotel is a (free) shuttle ride that takes about 4 minutes to the slopes. You wouldn't want to walk this distance to the slopes, especially with your gear. I never waited more than 4 minutes or so for the shuttle to come. Kitchen comes with coffee maker and microwave, dishwasher, and two sinks. I never cooked in the unit but I suppose you could. Unit has a full-sized stackable washer/dryer that came in handy. The rooms are very warm! Not sure if its because I was on the 4th floor but even with the heat off (there are two controls for the HVAC in the unit) the average temp in the room was 78 degrees, so I had the AC on a bit. There are two gas fire places - one in living area and one in bedroom - not to my liking, but whatever. I don't know who does like gas fireplaces and why, but whatever. Bed was comfortable. Water pressure in showers was great. Staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Great outdoor pool (available year round i.e. its heated) and a jacuzzi. Open late, till 10 PM I believe. Sauna and steamroom were nice. Gym had two treadmills and a few other things - weights, etc.... I might go back for another trip next February - nice place.

Dining tip: Not Applicable

Not a lot of dining options in the area in my opinion. Once you've eaten at The Farm and the other places in the base area, you've used up all the options. So cooking in the unit might become an option, or just head into town.

Great place just outside Park City

The Silverado is at the base of The Canyons ski area, just a few miles north of Park City, the Park City ski area, and the Deer Valley ski area. Alta/Snowbird (stunningly beautiful ski areas) are less than an hour's drive away. While located at the base of The Canyons, it's a tough walk from the Silverado to the lifts carrying ski gear. The hotel has secure heated parking in the basement, so you can leave your skis, boots, jackets, gloves, etc in the car overnight, a real work saver. With a full kitchen, two baths, and two gas fireplaces, the king suite was very comfy. The place looked new and was spotless clean. This particular unit didn't have the great views that many ($) in the area do, but it was still very nice.

Park City is a nice ski area, but Alta/Snowbird is absolutely stunning, and just a 45 minute drive from the Silverado. Be aware Deer Valley and Alta do not allow snowboards. Snowbird does.

Dining tip: In Hotel

Skip the dining choices in the Canyons and take the free hotel shuttle (leaves hourly) into town. There aren't any really casual places serving any affordable comfort food choices, which is a shame.

Enjoyable ski vacation

We arrived at the Silverado and were treated with nothing but care. We didn't get the snow Utah was famous for but we still had a great time. Park City can be known for being a bit "snobbish" but at the Silverado they took a genuine interest in how you were doing and how your day was. I look forward to returning sometime soon.

A lot for the money

The rooms were enormous. We stayed in a one bedroom suite which was very comfortably appointed with a very well equipped kitchen. The bathrooms were clean and lovely with both a shower and jacuzzi. The staff was extremely friendly. There is a shuttle that will take you everywhere in the canyons and pick you up from the Park City free bus system. A very enjoyable stay for a reasonable price by ski area standards. There is a Glatt Kosher restaurant on the premises.

great place to be

Ski and stay at the Canyons/Silverado; very nice place to be on the slopes. We skiied at the PC mtns only because there was limited snow and runs open during early Decemeber. Watch out for the funky washer dryers, know how they work.

"Snowed INN" was very "cute" especially for the kids Cowboy theme. Food was good: prime rib, chicken and fresh trout. Kids will love going down the hill on their dinner plates!

Great hotel but still new

I would have given it a higher rating because the room was gorgeous & I liked the heated outdoor pool. However, I believe the hotel was brand new or was in process of renovating. There was constant smell of paint in the halls & I could not find ice machines. To get to the pool you had to travel down corridor that rooms were being fixed & freshly painted. Other than that I would recommend to anyone once everything is done.
