Great Summer Deal

The staff was very helpful, and gave us a discount after we decided to stay an extra day. The Apache motel is a pleasant slice of pre-tourist-trap Moab.

Spend a little more, go elsewhere...

John Wayne may have stayed there back in the day, but I guarantee you he wouldn't stay there now. Wish I would have followed my first instinct and went somewhere else. I am not a hotel snob. Have had pleasant stays at older mom and pop types of establishments. This isn't one of them. Cheap and unfriendly. Capitalizing on The Duke's fame, but not holding up their end of the bargain. No greeting when we came in. She asked if she could SEE my credit card. Then she charged our room without clarifying how much I was being charged, or even that she was running a charge at that time. Then I learned why. Had I seen the room first, I would have left. Old chincy furnishings. Tiny old television. NOT even a plastic drink cup at the bathroom sink to rinse your mouth out with. Really! I paid $94 for this? Holes in wall by the tub where they had put in rounded shower rods, but didn't bother to repair where the old one had been. Black gunk in the corners of the bathtub. Cinnamon rolls in the morning were cold prepackaged rolls that probably came in a box of 12 at the dollar store. Traveler beware. Spend a little extra and go somewhere else.

Moab Experience

Room is okay. One of the cheapest in this area. We were there to visit the National Parks and State Park. Had dinner one night at Eddie McStiffs (this is the name of the restaurant)....very good ! Needed to spend another night or two just to explore the town more...so we didn't spend any 'real' time in the room except to shower and sleep.....breakfast consisted of pancakes, cereal and packaged breakfast rolls and coffee/milk/hot chocolate....no fruit or juice...our room had microwave and fridge...good overall.

Hiking Trip to Arches and Canyonlands

I spent three nights, driving out to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks during the two full days I had here in Moab. For me as a single traveler looking to do outdoor activities, this hotel was just right. The room was nice and cool, the shower was hot, the part of town the hotel is in was quiet, and the staff was nice and helpful. For those wanting to shop and eat at local places, the hotel is about four blocks from Main Street and the touristy part of town.

4th of July Weekend

The hotel was older but we found it to be roomy and clean. It was much more affordable than other options in town and was very close to the sand flats recreation area where we went four wheeling. We found the staff to be very helpful and nice and we enjoyed not being right next to busier Main Street. However, it was also close enough to everything we needed. It is not a nice updated hotel as it is still very old but if your looking for an affordable convenient place in Moab and really just will be there to sleep in the a/c this will be great. We did not go in the pool however because it was small and did not seem very clean. Could see the fireworks from hotel window!

John Wayne once slept here...

But that was a long time ago. Yes, the place is on the National Registrar of Historic Places, but does that mean that it cannot be painted on the outside? Well, here is the good: Bathroom had a bowed shower curtain, nice tile, and a light that was bright enough. The fan worked really well and the towels were good. We had a kingsized bed and I found it comfortable. It had a microwave, and a refrigerator, plus a table and two chairs. There was plenty of space in the room plus ample dressers and nightstands. The hotel is located 4 blocks from the main street, which was nice as it was more quiet. There were no bugs. The flatscreen TV looked OK (I did not turn it on). The bad: There was no coffee/tea in the room (both were available in the lobby of the hotel). The light coming into the room from outside (around the edges of the closed curtains) made it hard for me to sleep (I like a dark room). The caulking around the tub was mostly missing, and I wondered about the black stuff around the bathtub edges. The walls were full of holes where, for one, old shower curtain bar used to be (and the holes were never patched over). Likewise in the bedroom. Everything appeared old (but functional). The breakfast was cereal in a tupperware container or pancakes that the hosts made and were available in the lobby to be picked up. I passed on it and went into town for breakfast. All in all, the place gave me a creepy feel.

Very, very old

The room was VERY old and VERY tired. I had trouble sleeping on the old, saggy mattress and threadbare sheets. Bathroom was rusty. It's cheap and was about the last room in town, and that is all I can say about it.

Just fine

Older hotel, so keep that in mind when booking. If your expectations are right...you won't be too disappointed. It has not been remodeled in some time obviously...although the bathroom did look to have been updated somewhat recently. Location is good...not on the main strip, but only a few blocks away. Breakfast included pancakes, more than I expected.
