I had just arrived into Houston for a 5 night stay. I travel a great deal and enjoy Holiday Inns. I was shocked when I pulled up to see curtains down in multiple windows, cleaning jugs on the window sills, etc. I felt like the pictures on the website misrepresented the hotel. When I entered, reluctantly, I was hit with a blast of dust and immediately noticed the plastic hanging in the lobby, certainty under major remodel. The hotel staff had a cardboard table set up for check in. The smell, construction noises, was too much and I walked up and told the staff " this isn't going to work"" and her reply was "I know." She was courteous about my cancellation. I have to say I am sure it will be nice when finished. The area leaves much to be desired...I went up a few miles north next to the Woodlands mall....I felt much safer and was near great shopping and restaurants. I was required to review the rooms to post this, so I went average.....due to construction.

Couple Staying in the woodlands

The hotel was "fancier" than all of the other Holiday Inn Express hotels we have stayed at. The room was very clean and the a/c worked great! The price was very reasonable as well. Only about 2 miles from the Woodlands Mall which was our attraction. Not a great location but for the price it was great. Not a lot of eating places around it though which is a downside.

Perfect Ironman Stay

Stayed at this location for the Woodlands Ironman Triathlon. It was away from the crowds, was quiet, and enjoyable. Typical amenities with a very friendly staff. Couldn't ask for any more at that price.

Party at Hotel

I'm changing and adding to my review last night. Last nights stay was horrible. Band didn't stop playing until 2 am. The vibrations on the floors and windows were crazy! When I approached the front desk this morning about my complaint they gave me a business card and said the manager told them if there were any complaints to contact them Monday morning. What this told me is that the manager knew there'd be complaints, what this also told me is that they weren't willing to deal with it upfront and openly. I can only assume that when most people leave they won't take the time to contact the management hence the hotel gets their full listing price. You go to a hotel to get a good nights sleep while traveling. Construction at hotels are usually noted to visitors with even times of noise notated and told at the front desk upon checkin. The only way to give this a one star was to give bad reviews on everything. It should be noted the place was clean and workers did a good job.

NOISE

The least they could have done when we were checking is was to tell us about a party going on. The walls and floors were vibrating and shaking. Kids were having a formal event with a band or music and dancing, I'm sure it was great fun. However no one we talked to throughout the place thought they'd have a good nights sleep. If an establishment was undergoing construction they'd have told you upon checking in. At least a discount should have been offered.

Pleasantly Surprised

I was surprised at how big and comfortable the room was. The hotel was one of the few still available for my trip. I would recommend the hotel.

Better than expected...

Minutes from the Hardy Toll Road and minutes from The Woodlands. Yes, the area is congested and over-built, but use the back entrance/exit on Oakhurst for easy access to Sawmill or Grogan's Mill (as you head towards The Woodlands the name of the road changes). Try to get on the 3rd floor as I imagine that you can hear footsteps from above on the lower floors.

BBQ Cafe - Pit Master's...in the same shopping center as Rookie's Sports Bar (behind CiCi's Pizza)...this place ROCKS! Excellent food, cold beer, and a great staff.

Good Deal

My son and I went to a wrestling tournament and picked this hotel to stay at. Check in was easy, room was clean, bathroom was very clean, and I heard nothing from other rooms or traffic on the interstate. Beds were a bit hard for my taste but there were no bed bugs and I am a picky person when it comes to my mattress. Check out was also very quick and easy. The front desk clerk was very knowledgeable of the surrounding area. Overall, it was a great stay.

The only negative...

Phone to front desk didn't work and we needed a plunger...just a hassle is all...otherwise great. The location of the hotel (although convenient) ... not so nice. Pool is skimpy for families although we didn't use it. Front desk help was superb.
