it looks really nice on the outside however, there were a list of problems. the bed was awful, along with the pillows. they folded the pillows into little squares so it took the fluffyNess out of them. the shower had little to no water pressure.
there was no tv remote, no extra baskets for freezing room, no updated appliances or amenities. the breakfast was not much of a breakfast at all. the door had one lock and looked like someone had broken in previously. we kept a chair in front of the door for security purposes. if the bed had been some what comfortable and had a little bit of support, it would have be ok.
I took my son to South Padre Island to go fishing for the weekend and needed an inexpensive place to stay on the island to bed down for the night. If you are looking for a room to serve this purpose, then this is the place for you.
are dated, but functional. The service was about average and if you ask for a wake up call, you are better off using the alarm on your cell phone to wake you up (more dependable).
The parking is horrible! My son and I were lucky to get a space and if you left to do anything on the island, you were more likely to have to park your vehicle alongside the street.
Econo Lodge needs to seriously think about having assigned parking spaces and make the visitors park out in the street not the paying customers.
The cleanliness of the room was nice and it served our purpose. The comfort of the room was good if not for the family of twenty five people that spent the entire weekend out at the pool all hours of the night (Barbequing and playing loud music). It helps if you have been out at the beach all day or on a boat and just too worn out to care.
The staff was a friendly group of people that did the best with what they had. Nice, but not very tentative. I asked for a new coffee pot because the one in the room did not work and after calling three times, I finally got it.
The value, like I said, if you want to be on the island and in the middle of it all, this is the place. There are restaurants, shops, and stores all within walking distance as far as the locale is concerned. However, as my title reads, you truly get what you pay for. An expensive room to rest up in the evening and go about your day elsewhere.
Do not even try to use the pool; there was a family there the entire time with about twenty five to thirty people blasting their music, getting drunk, and barbequing the entire weekend with about fifteen kids. No exaggeration…THE ENTIRE WEEKEND.
Hope this helps.

A decent place to stay on the island and you are close to all the conveniences whether you decide to walk or drive. This is the place to stay if you are doing more extravagant activities such as deep sea fishing, water crafting, or other recreational activities that will require you to be away from the room and you are only using the room to rest up overnight.
No one goes to an Econolodge expecting luxury! These hotels are generally cheap for a reason. However, there are still some common things that should take place. Firstly, we arrived to NO ONE at the front desk...waited 8-10 minutes before he
arrived back (no idea where he was). Checked in and went to the room. There were NO towels, not a one! Went to call the front desk...NO PHONE in the room either! Front desk says he'll bring the towels, once he's done folding them, and that there is nothing he can do about the missing phone. He did bring the towels less than 15 minutes later. We attempted to log on the WI-FI with no luck. Called the front desk, he says they just got a new modem and it should be working to look for "guest net" and then enter email address for access. Try to find that network with out iPhones, & iPad with no luck and call again. I ask him to reset the modem, hoping it would kick start the WI-FI which he claimed he would do but the internet NEVER worked. He pretty much seems to just say whatever to get us off the phone.
The room was okay clean and the condition isn't grand either. It's not filthy but I wouldn't walk around in the room without flip flops on, etc. Their breakfast is all carbohydrates but really for their rate! we can't complain about that!
