Travelodge San Marcos/University/Downtown

Staff was friendly but room needed updating and serious cleaning. In general, the room smelled of mildew and had visible mold on the tiles on walls and floor in bathroom. Carpet was also dirty, walls were marred. Outside of building looked respectable as did front desk area but room itself needed lots of TCL.

Got in late so didn't bother asking them to change the bed cover but it was very obvious stain when the bed cover was put on so someone from the hotel had already seen it and didn't care. The manager was very understanding and told me I should have just called and they would have changed the sheets.

My choice to stay there was based solely on price. But when I got there they only had a smoking room available. It was disgusting. The sheets had not just stains, but chunks in them. It was sooo gross. Other than the stink and the gross bed it was decent however. The area around was pretty ghetto. Got eyeballed by what looked like some gangstas drinking beer upstairs as I went to my room. If you can stay somewhere else you probably should.

The room was comfortable. Bed was good. Friendly staff and great continental breakfast.

We came to San Marcos for family vacation. It happened to be SXSW and also Spring Break weekend so this was our last choice for a hotel. It is at the far end of San Marcos, hard to get to because of the roads. Toilet had a leak so there was water and mold behind the toilet. You only receive 2 towels which are rough and non-absorbent. TV was old and did not give a good picture; it was discolored and snowy. Not a good continental breakfast. Staff is unfriendly. Would not recommend.

I stayed for one night, room clean, friendly staff

Room was clean, although the towels had stains on them and the vinyl molding in the bathroom was pealing off the wall. TV remote only turned on and off the TV, volume and channel changer did not work.

Good: The staff were very pleasant and responsive if you needed extra towels, pillows, ect. The location on I-35 is convenient to get to the University, Aquarena Springs and the outlet centers. Bad: Although the pictures on the website are of this motel, you have to look real hard to verify that. The photos were apparently were taken several years ago, most likely when it opened or was renovated. This motel has aged a lot and needs some upkeep. There were cracks in the bath tub, what appeared to be mold on the walls and ceiling in the bathroom, the bedspreads appeared to be originals from years ago and the mattresses were not that comfortable, just to name a few items. We will not be staying here again unless the motel is renovated and these type items are fixed.

Room was clean, staff was very friendly, good price.

When I arrived. I checked in went to the room. The room stunk and alive crickets in the tub. I went to the office and told him that i was going to leave to go to the store. While in am gone someone needs to clean my room again. So i went to Walmart and got some disinfectant for the room.Entered the room again. Still stunk and tub looked like it was just wiped out. So sprayed the room. While eating a crockroach went across the room. I dont recommend this hotel.
