St Anthony Rooms

Creamy tones on the walls and furniture aim to soothe guests, while comfortable mattresses and 100 percent pure cotton bed linen promote a restful night's sleep. Stylish touches, including patterned drapes, tasteful artwork in gilt frames and rich wooden furniture bring elegance and warmth. Four-poster beds in nearly all rooms add to the feeling of sophistication. The hotel was built in 1909 and many rooms retain period features such as original tiling in the bathrooms. Some rooms have views of downtown San Antonio or the nearby park. Wireless Internet and televisions with premier channels (charges may apply) alongside complimentary coffee and coffeemaker make relaxing easy, while a work desk provides space for guests who have to work during their stay. The St Anthony is a great option for families or larger groups, courtesy of its rooms with two queen beds and two full-size bathrooms. Large living areas in the suites, which range from 300 to 500 sq ft, provide space to really spread out; some also offer sofa beds to accommodate extra guests. Full size bathrooms in all rooms have branded bath products to aid relaxation at the end of a busy day of sightseeing. Two specialty suites are available for special stays, one being the room used by John Wayne during filming of 'The Alamo'. In-room spa treatments may be arranged and a room service menu is available (charges apply).

Texas Style

The St Anthony is a classic hotel, but modernized. Texas style furniture in the lobby, sitting porch looks out on a square park with statue of Travis, Queen Ann cherry furniture in the room, two blocks from the Riverwalk, and three blocks from the Alamo. Very enjoyable stay for a fair price.

Historic, Comfortable

The St. Anthony is moments from the scenic river walk. It feels like it was built in the 1910s--in a good way. Don't expect flat-screen TVs (though the TVs worked fine). Instead, have a drink in the lobby and feel like you've walked back in time, and then meander on down to the Alamo.

Perfect experience

The room cleanliness is good but not perfect due to long history with the hotel. Some of the devices such as the tap hose was not in good condition but acceptable. The wifi service was not good. Lost signal frequently and then, I have to use my cellphone instead of local wifi.
