The St. Anthony - A Wyndham Historic Hotel

My husband and I stayed for a short three night vacation and had quite a bit planned. I was very worried that we wouldn't be able to fit everything in. However, due to the St. Anthony's perfect location, we were able to reach everything and often times within walking distance! The staff also helped me plan out the best ways to get to certain places, and also suggested some wonderful additional sites to see. Great restaurant and bar, and I really loved the afternoon jazz band and happy hour in the lobby! My only wish is that the rooms contained hair dryers.

The St. Anthony is a truly unique property with a staff that seems to appreciate and respect it as well as they interact with their guests. San Antonio has always been a warm, friendly city. We were there for a wedding that was handled for the most part in house by hotel staff. Very impressive. Many in our group didn't receive the type of room reserved, but that's the only real issue. Sure, after 100 plus years a few things are frayed about the edges, but no big deals. I will definitely return and can't wait to see how a $20 million plus remodel turns out. If they put a chunk of that money into antique furniture restoration, it'll be awesome.

Friendly, historic hotel in good location. Very nice lounge bar area. The room we had was a good size, and had two bathrooms (there were 3 of us so worked well), and very comfortable beds. Maybe our room but the TV was antiquated and bathroom fittings functional...just. WiFi worked fine but could do with some 21st century technology and plumbing while still retaining the historic feel. You get the impression that the management are trading on the historic to avoid upgrading basic items of functionality. Also, a small but adequate pool is a good addition, but why was the pool bar never open? Having said that, we would definitely choose it again over more expensive options in the same area. So, a few upgrades in amenities mean it would really rate 4 star overall, and then the rooms would compliment the very nice lounge area. Until that's done it's a high three star in our view, but very good value for all that!

We had a very large old room. The furniture was cheap and scratched. The bed needed a stool to get up on, but at least it was comfortable. The bathroom was old and beat up. Tiles very dirty. The curtains were barely hanging on the walls due to so many of the hooks not on the rods. The air conditioner never stopped and it was never cool. It was also very noisy. The tv was pitiful and so were the stations. The pool is a joke, we have a fish pond in the back yard that is bigger and it was trashy. The lobby is nice but that was not one of my priorities. They left the linen room open, it was filthy, but at least we were able to get a towel when the maid didn't leave any.

the walls were really thin bc its an old building..so you can hear whatever is going on next door... the "rooftop pool" has no view and isn't even on the top of the building its on the 6th floor. and they dont mention on this site that parking at this hotel is $26 extra unless u want to park across the street?? which is $20... Kind of a rip off.

They did not clean our. Room. And the lights did not work for half day in the second. Room. It was a nice. Hotel. A

The staff was very cordial and helpful. We arrived a little late, and they provided a free upgrade to a Junior suite. The location was perfect to get to the Riverwalk and for venturing outside of San Antonio.

The customer service provided by staff is excellent! However i had the hardest mattress I have ever experienced at a hotel. The queen size rooms are small and the bathrooms are VERY small.

Built in 1908 Beautiful lobby. The rooms not so much. They don't check rooms before someone checks into it. First one not good should not have had an occupant. Room 2 was not much better. Room 3 was exceptable not perfect. The only thing that made our stay tolerable was the staff they bent over backwards to make our stay ok. We did get 4 breakfast buffette for our inconvenience. In spite of everything had a great time.
