St Anthony Rooms

Creamy tones on the walls and furniture aim to soothe guests, while comfortable mattresses and 100 percent pure cotton bed linen promote a restful night's sleep. Stylish touches, including patterned drapes, tasteful artwork in gilt frames and rich wooden furniture bring elegance and warmth. Four-poster beds in nearly all rooms add to the feeling of sophistication. The hotel was built in 1909 and many rooms retain period features such as original tiling in the bathrooms. Some rooms have views of downtown San Antonio or the nearby park. Wireless Internet and televisions with premier channels (charges may apply) alongside complimentary coffee and coffeemaker make relaxing easy, while a work desk provides space for guests who have to work during their stay. The St Anthony is a great option for families or larger groups, courtesy of its rooms with two queen beds and two full-size bathrooms. Large living areas in the suites, which range from 300 to 500 sq ft, provide space to really spread out; some also offer sofa beds to accommodate extra guests. Full size bathrooms in all rooms have branded bath products to aid relaxation at the end of a busy day of sightseeing. Two specialty suites are available for special stays, one being the room used by John Wayne during filming of 'The Alamo'. In-room spa treatments may be arranged and a room service menu is available (charges apply).

Classic hotel

Perfectly fine hotel at a great downtown location. Stay here if you like old hotels. It's not so old that George Washington could have slept there, but John Wayne did.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

San Antonio's Riverwalk is a great attraction, but the food isn't anything special. Better if you come back to street level for a good restaurant.

not what we expected

The photos of the lobby made us think this was a luxury hotel, but the room was not. It seemed old, it smelled old and the sheets were worn and need to be thrown away. We will not return to this hotel. Our son is in college here and we are trying different hotels. The TV was box tv that did not have movies and every channel was not the channel that it was supposed to be. Very disappointed.

Biga on the Banks is a great food option. You will pass several spots down on the River Walk but will still have a great view of the River and outstanding meal.

A bit funky for the value.

Well I can say that I LOVE the old timey quality of the place, and the staff was helpful--to go as far as the valet persons allowing me to park free since I arrived after midnight and left by 6am. However, the room is tiny, my bed WAS NOT king-sized like ordered, and the closet smelled like a VERY old attic and mildew. I will never stay here again...to make it simple.

Dissapointed in room

Room smelled dirty, carpet dirty, bathroom seemed clean, but floors looked dirty. I asked housekeeping to change sheets daily, as I have a phobia about bed bugs, and they were not customer friendly about request. TV was archaic! We could not get many channels, they had to change TV out, and still replacement was not working. I asked for fan due to their AC problems, they brought me a box fan, which would have been ok if it were not extremely dirty!! I also feel that the parking rates were not correctly posted, it is deceiving if you do not read the "little fine print" Overall bad experience!!

Not what expected

The room had a weird smell and it didn't have a very good view. There was an empty beer bottle under the curtains. The lobby was pretty though, the huge chandeliers were gorgeous. They just need to clean the rooms better and some remodeling and upgrading and this hotel would be amazing.
