St Anthony Rooms
Creamy tones on the walls and furniture aim to soothe guests, while comfortable mattresses and 100 percent pure cotton bed linen promote a restful night's sleep. Stylish touches, including patterned drapes, tasteful artwork in gilt frames and rich wooden furniture bring elegance and warmth. Four-poster beds in nearly all rooms add to the feeling of sophistication. The hotel was built in 1909 and many rooms retain period features such as original tiling in the bathrooms. Some rooms have views of downtown San Antonio or the nearby park. Wireless Internet and televisions with premier channels (charges may apply) alongside complimentary coffee and coffeemaker make relaxing easy, while a work desk provides space for guests who have to work during their stay. The St Anthony is a great option for families or larger groups, courtesy of its rooms with two queen beds and two full-size bathrooms. Large living areas in the suites, which range from 300 to 500 sq ft, provide space to really spread out; some also offer sofa beds to accommodate extra guests. Full size bathrooms in all rooms have branded bath products to aid relaxation at the end of a busy day of sightseeing. Two specialty suites are available for special stays, one being the room used by John Wayne during filming of 'The Alamo'. In-room spa treatments may be arranged and a room service menu is available (charges apply).

Great location but hotel a little dated!
I like to stay in hotels with a little character and the St Anthony does not disappoint. The rooms were large with 4 poster beds although they were a bit high. Not a problem for me but my parents ( in their 70's) struggled to get on and off the beds. The hotel looks like it needs some updating although it was clean and comfortable. Great location and breakfast was good value and quality. All in all a great stay at a great price!

It will Do
OK let me say that the beds are comfortable. I checked in and was told no Self Parking was available. So valet parking was $54 plus for two days. In addition, the dumpsters outside the hotel were emptied at 5AM. There were at least a dozed of them, and with all windows closed I could hear every bang. You can decide about value.

Love it!
The location is great. The room is wonderful. Love the tall comfy bed. With one very notable and disappointing exception the staff was wonderful. On our last stay the room service meal was very good. Sadly this year's breakfast was not very good at all. Overall the things we like we like a lot. We will be back.

We will be back
Our small group enjoyed the old style charm of the St. Anthony's. From the parking attendants to the desk clerks, the staff was polite and very accommodating. Unlike some reviews which have complained of the room size, we found our room to be quite spacious even with the high four-poster kingsize bed. Lighting could have been better in the room, and more comfortable chairs would have helped. The Fitness Room had limited equipment, but each machine was state-of-the-art. The hotel was a real value and we will certainly recommend it to others.

Ok for a quick stay
The room was booked as a package deal for a business trip I was taking. For a 2 or 3 night stay or for a pleasure trip, this motel is located perfectly in the heart of downtown San Antonio, Texas. Within a short walking distance is The Alamo Mission which is well worth the time to visit. There are plenty of activities within walking distance as well as an abundance of restaurants. If you plan to eat out with every meal, this would be a great motel. If you want the convenience of being able to warm up food or keep food cold until ready to eat, you need to find a different place to stay as there are no rooms with fridge or microwave in them. Don't think that just because you do self parking that you are going to be able to park for free either. You will pay something to the tun of $20.54 per day for parking while staying at the hotel. I did not ask what the Valet Parking would cost. If you are going there on business, find a different motel.
