My daughters military graduation

My son and I were in San Antonio for my daughter's graduation. We were greeted by 3 large crickets in our room. Also I killed 2 roaches. My son was afraid to sleep under the covers that were on the bed. The bathroom wasn't clean at all. I've stayed at a Super 8 hotel before in Kansas and my experience there was way better. Overall my trip was good however the hotel stay was a disaster. You get just what you pay for!!!

First Trip to Texas

The first night in Texas I attempted to stay at the Super 8. I knew it was a 2 star hotel and my expectations were low, but this place didn't even deserve 2 stars. I had a meeting right after I arrived and had to drop my bags and run. I did not spend any time in the room until much later. When I did get to look around I was very disturbed. The door appeared to have been kicked in by the police on at least one occasion and not repaired properly. The bathroom was full of mildew and smelled dank and unclean. Still I was going to muscle through the 6 day stay until I sat in the chair to read and saw a used condom on the floor. At that point I had my wife help get me out of there. When I went to the front desk I was confronted by a night manager that informed me that it was my fault that I was dissatisfied with the room. He informed me that he was ex-military and that this was definitely me failing to inspect the room and have proper attention to detail that was the problem, not the hotel. He was combative, full of fowl language, and never once attempted to apologize. Well, I am currently military. I fully understand the importance for attention to detail. I am also a medical practitioner that treats our nations Marines and I have diagnosed everything from colds to cancer. Attention to detail is a big deal in my daily life. The problems I encountered would not have been solved by me looking around the room earlier in the day. I felt that I deserved a civil apology for the lack of cleanliness and help finding a new room. Not a verbal attack. I did leave for another hotel that night. It was also a 2 star, not the nicest place (which I fully expect with a 2 star), but much cleaner in appearance and smell.

It was reasonably priced and a great find on such short notice. We'd been car shopping all day and were too tired to drive another three hours back home so it was cool and comfortable after a long day.

Bad hotel, just the price was good

Staff was perfect, but the management has to REALLY turn their faces to the hotel. Towels old - you can read through them, all wall sockets BAD, guys, you need an electrician or you will need a fireman soon!!!!! When the entrance door to the room is closed, light plastic glass over the vanity comes down. Not falling completely, but close to it. Breakfast - much worse than in my favorite Comfort Inn, and even for that you have to wait to make pancakes, as there are only 3 tables... No seating, and 2 min times 6 people at 2 tables about 15 min waiting. Option - cereal and milk. No yogurts, no omelets, no sausages... I understand it is a cheap hotel, but still... Location: Extremely NOISY because of the road. About 7 dollars to downtown by taxi. Definitely NOT A WALKING DISTANCE, and the buses also not a variant... No big roads nearby to walk and enjoy, but everybody says it is safe. No restaurant / bar / liquor store near by. Just a bunch of pizza brochures, you can order delivery, but still not a bottle of a good beer with it. Drink sugar soda... :(

This is NOT what I expected

This hotel is dirty, old, falling apart, and NOT what I expected from the pictures or the name! It's not close enough to downtown or the riverwalk to walk. It's in a rough neighborhood. People were walking by at all hours. It was pretty unsettling, we were traveling with our two children. The rooms are very small with very little walking room. The furniture is just crammed in where it fits. We had to change rooms because the air conditioner wasn't cooling in the first room. The staff was nice about it and we changed rooms. The bathtub in the second room wasn't draining correctly and that wasn't acceptable. It was either die from heat in a hot room or shower and bathe in dingy water that wasn't draining well. I was expecting a little more for the almost $200 I paid. We will definitely NOT be staying here again.
