Red Roof Inn San Antonio Lackland

I chose this hotel because it is close to Lackland AFB, but I found out it's about a 10 minute drive to the gate the Valley Hi Gate. The area surrounding the motel is pretty run down. The bed sheets had the strongest bleach scent ever, and the pillows were too firm. The TV kept turning off, same with one of the main lights, and the blow dryer. At one point the water was turned off for about 30 minutes (Right when I was about to hop in the shower too, ugh could you imagine having soap on your face and it turning off?) The coffee machine literally took 1 hour to fill 1 cup. (Good thing Denny's is next door, also if you bring your room key you get a 10% discount there.) Also, the mini fridge did not work. Basically, if you're looking for something cheap and not expecting much except a place to sleep then stay here, but lock your door lol. I recommend staying more North by Sea World. It's a newer area and a lot nicer.

When I got to the room,tv was not working so they had to put me in another room.THen when I got to the other room,it had an awful smell so I needed t change room again,you dont need this after travelling all you want is jump in the bed and rest!!!then housekeeper kept knocking at the door when I told her I was not descent she replied"well I didnt know that".

arrived 11 pm with no shower curtain or ice bucket, you had to constantly slam door to get it to lock, no small note pad or pencil,second night still no ice bucket, dirty towels not being replaced, bath mat not replaced, third day towels running out had to ask for more but still no bath mat,light on phone would not stop blinking,only 4 channels for cable t v not good. and also if i were a building inspector i would make them fix the stairway on outside of building by office to second floor they are about ready to collapse!

Stayed here for daughters graduation from BMT at Lackland AFB....the only positive was the location....very close to base gates....pillows were super flat...beds were stained..didnt even have a fitted sheet on one of the beds....walls were stained...the lock was just about broken off....ceilings were damaged...baseboards were falling off...shower was filthy....towels were small and not soft....found a few cochroaches and when brought to desks attention they said they have never had that happen before and because we booked through Orbitz we had to go through you to rectify it...find that very hard to believe....continental breakfast was awful..coffee was empty two of the mornings and we didnt have time to wait...the pool was slimy on the bottom...would never stay here again!!!

Not to bad. Will recommend for a single day stay. not for a family. Suites are to small.

We were in a pinch to find an inexpensive room for the same night. This was pretty good room. The room was clean, neat, and cool when we arrived. The staff was friendly and inviting, they even left the pool open late so we could enjoy a late nite swim after being in the car all day. The continental breakfast left alot to be desired, it was stale donuts, toast, and stale bagels, luckily there is a Denny's right next door! Other than that it was great for when you are in a pinch and looking for an inexpensive room!

On my trip to sea world in July I stayed at the red roof in at lackland... 1. It's near by and next door to a Denny's and an exxon which is good ... 2. The employee at the front desk was very rude and not very attentive to your needs 3. The check out is smooth and the hotel is right next to the highway so you don't have to deal with the traffic on your way back home

My stay at this hotel was great. Very close to the Lackland AFB. Everything was great, the only bad thing is that they need to do a few more upgrades. All and all, great stay for me n my husband.

First of all, the 1/2mile from lackland statement is deceiving. The gate you need to enter as a visiter is about 4 miles away. As stated, this motel had the most basic of amenities. We came for BMT Graduation, and it served the purpose. It's about 10-12 minutes from the hotel to the AFB gate, and the drive is simple. If you dont want to miss anything, give yourselves a bit of extra time to get through the AFB gates, which during the first visited morning, can be busy. This Red Roof is in need of some updating, but worse, is the very tight quarters (our room at least). The commode and shower are in a very small space and the wash basin is separate. Our room had a coffee maker, microwave, fridge, clothes iron. There is a coin laundry on the site which was handy. Property has a pool. Food and shopping is close as well. We stayed for 4 days and with 4 persons , it was time to go. Would I recommend to a friend? Yes for a short BMT Graduation stay, but no in general. ..especially for any length of time. Rooms are too cramped, even for 2 persons.
