Needs work
Convenient location to Brooke Army & Fort Sam Houston. Has a nice pool, decent free breakfast, lots of free parking. On the downside, it's dirty, old, not well maintained, & the staff is a little clueless.

The Joke's On You
First off - No longer Clarion INN & Suites. New Ownership 2 weeks ago - Quality INN & Suites. The room that I booked was unavailable, due to renovations. Had to pay the difference to UPGRADE, only to find that this was the room I had originally booked. Hotel staff, especially CLEANING staff, is virtually non-existant. Property is pretty run-down. If you are only staying 1 or 2 nights - This ONE STAR RATED hotel is still over-priced.

Hot in Texas
We flew a our small, homebuilt airplane into San Marcos. We were going to a wedding in Austin several days later. We decided to spend one night in San Antonio to see the Alamo and the River Walk. The 106 F temp made the visit a little uncomfortable. The motel staff was very friendly. The outside entry was a bit less than the other motels we stayed in, but it was a better price too. The pool was very nice and we used it. Breakfast was good too. No problems were noted.

We drove about 9 miles to the northwest part of the city to a decent mall with movie theaters and a Whole Foods store where we ate dinner.

Clarion inn
I stayed in this hotel for a couple days to see my brothers grad. The hotel is under renovation and it wasn't stated in the website. The lobby smelt like cat urine and after I checked in and went to my room, my bed wasn't even made. I understand u get what u pay for but I didn't even receive the basics. Go to a different hotel. These guys have some work to do.

My 'biggest' complaint: our rooms were not ready when we arrived at 6:05 p.m. Friday 3/18/2011. We had to wait an hour and 40 minutes for one room and the other 2 hours. We missed an event (card tournament) we had paid a registration fee to participate in...I was afraid to leave the hotel since there were others waiting for rooms. I wanted to make sure we were not put at the bottom of the list. Housekeeping will not get a high score since that was the reason for the delay - that is what we were told. - the bed was very comfortable - the breakfast buffet was reasonable

It is in the perfect location
It was perfect if you would like to see the whole city. It is right in the middle of everything. The price was reasonable and the hotel is very clean.

The family's stay
The room was not bad. We were in need of some towels, but when notified the staff brought us some with a smile. The wireless net was down, but I suspected it was due to construction. Otherwise the stay went well.

Great location for AT&T Center concerts
We stayed overnight after attending a concert at the AT&T Center. It was easy to get to from the concert. Lack of amenities would not make it an ideal vacation spot, but for catching some sleep rather than driving home after concert, it fit the bill just fine.

Not Bad
The staff was really friendly, I was visiting Fort Sam Houston so the location was great but there is a train nearby and you can hear it sometimes. For the quality of the hotel, I think the price should be $10-$20 less.
