Great Business Trip Hotel

I was on the Hilton Honors floor with a nice balcony and view of the convention center and city. Everything about this hotel is first class. Great access to the Riverwalk and Alamo. Enjoy!

I got a lot our of the audio tour of the Alamo. I think it's $7.00 for the device. Well worth it in my opinion.

OUTSTANDING

I can honestly say that our stay (my wife & I) at the Hilton Palacio del Rio was one of the finest, if THE finest of any hotel that we have stayed in and that includes a couple of the finer hotels in Las Vegas. I would absolutely recommend a stay there to any prospective traveler.

Nice, but not worth the price and headache

First off, let me say that I rarely complain about hotels, restaurants, etc. This place was nice, but definitely not to be considered in the upper echelon of hotels. My experience started bad when I checked in at 5pm and they told me that I was getting a smoking double room when I had reserved a non-smoking king. When I asked about this I was told that they were sold out of king rooms smoking or non. I told him about my reservation, they told me that my hotel reservation website booking only guarantees me a room, nothing else and that was all that they had. When I asked for a refund so that I could go to another hotel, I was told that I would have to take that up with my hotel reservation website. Then I told him that I wanted him to handle it, he told me "what do you want me to do about it" and to "please accept the existing room or leave, but I was causing a backup in the line" I then contacted my hotel reservation website and the nice lady there put me on hold while she called the hotel herself. After about 4-5 minutes she came back on and said that they would be calling me to resolve the situation. They called about 2 minutes later to say that they magically had a room for me that met my reservation requests. When I went downstairs to switch the keys, the same guy (who was clearly aggravated) said "I hope you are happy" as he gave me the keys. Afterwards, I was told that my single night of parking would cost me $40 and I had to pay it to get my vehicle back. I will never stay at this place again.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

You can park across the street in a secure parking lot for $15/day versus the hotels' $40/day.

No honor points

I was surprised to discover that when I book a room through this site that I do not get any honor points for my stay. This will make me reconsider reserving rooms in the future.

Great Location on Riverwalk!

Clean, modern rooms. Very comfortable beds. Very solid built rooms -- quiet! Staff was very friendly at all times. Fabulous location right on the Riverwalk! Close to Alamo and tons of awesome restaurants! One ding: Pool size and deck is a disappointment.
