Short drive from hotel
Don't eat at the restaurants on the river walk. They are over priced and the food is just not good. Take a short drive and try something else.

Wonderful Hotel
From the moment you arrive in the incredible lobby, you know you are in for a special experience. The check-in was prompt & curteous. The room was so clean and modern in design. The bed itself was the best I believe I have ever slept in...and I was a business traveler for over 20 years. The front desk staff, the concierge, and bar servers were all friendly and most helpful. We found the 'Self Park" option in the hotel garage a great value compared to other venues nearby. We couldn't have been more pleased and when in San Antonio again will definitely stay here!

Check out Fogo de Chao (in the Rivercenter) for a Brazillian Steakhouse treat, as well as Tre, a wonderful Itallian Restaurant bordering La Villita.

Quick getaway
very nice, location is great! $25 parking to self park. Great exercise facility. Nice lap pool, but no hottubs. The bar prices are a little steep, but had friendly staff. They recommended happy hour at Tower of Americas. We would go back, no doubt. Great price at $110 on a Friday night.

In town for the evening
Hotel staff and facilities were excellent. Only complaint was too much to self park ($23/night), and hotel bar and grill service was slow. Will stay there again.

Thanksgiving 2011
This hotel's location is fantastic. The Riverwalk starts at the hotel doorstep, the Riverwalk Mall is a two minute walk away. Other places such as Hemisfair Park, Tower of the Americas and The Alamo are all less than ten minutes walk, as are all of the great cafes & restaurants. If you're planning on sticking to the Riverwalk area, there's no need for a car, taxi or other modes of transport once you arrive (athough if needed, the Streetcar is less than a block away). The hotel is approximately $30 by taxi from the airport. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Although we didn't use it, the pool area looked very inviting. The cafe/gift shop in the hotel lobby stocks a great range of snacks and products - even a selection of Starbucks beverages. This hotel was awesome value for the Thanksgiving weekend and suited our purposes perfectly as we could walk to everything we wanted to see. I would absolutely come back here again.

Sightseeing tip:
Long walk from hotel
We walked to the Market Square (Commerce/Santa Rosa) from the Grand Hyatt which took around 20-25 mins. We were a little disappointed with what we found, but that may just have been our expectations (we were looking for reasonably good quality sterling silver jewelry). There's a Starbucks on Houston (around Navarro) and the cafe across the street - SIP, do great breakfast sandwiches. Do some research on ATM locations, they were few and far between!
