My stay at the Emily Morgan
Beds were not made, bathroom was not clean and the valet was absolutely rude. The valet fees are 30.00 and we had to carry our bags. The bedsheets were wrinkled and the bed skirts were dragging on the floor. The location was great. When we checked in our reservation was not even on system. We had to wait until they could find out what was happening. Not likely to stay there again.

Emily Morgan - July 2011
We love staying at the Emily Morgan! Very close to the River Walk and lots of other great stuff! The kids loved playing in the pool and relaxing in the rooms. The only thing lacking a bit was the service in the restaurant...there wasn't always a host on duty at the front so it sometimes took a few minutes to find someone to seat us. The food was ok...not enough flavor for my taste, but not terrible either. We'll definitely be back!

Skip the hotel and go to the River Walk...the only problem with San Antonio in general is finding a place to eat breakfast. There's one Denny's nearby, but it's packed, so go early!

Downtown San Antonio
Stayed at this hotel as a more affordable option within walking distance of the Hyatt where my conference was held. Did not get to do much except eat at the Riverwalk restaurants and ride the river boat as all of the historical and tourist sites were closed everyday by the time my classes were over. The hotel was also within walking distance of the mall. Overall, experience was all right. Just the following issues could have been better: Water pressure!!!-not good on the 14th floor! Takes forever to rinse shampoo/conditioner out of your hair trying to get ready in the morning. A different review said the elevators (only 2) were slow, they were. The bigger issue was that they were very noisy. If not for Ambien, probably would not have been able to fall asleep. Other than that, hotel is clean. Staff is nice. Housekeeping somewhat absent-minded though. Two days in a row, they cleaned my room, swapped out towels but did not leave any clean washcloths, even after I called downstairs after the first time and specifically asked for them.

Nice Hotel, Not really Hunted
Pros: I do recommend this hotel, it is nice. What was nice about it were the following things. First the lobby was nice and as well as the front desk staff. The hotel is located right next to The Alamo and the River walk which was great for night adventures. The hotel restaurant was pleasant and did have a happy hour. The beds were very comfortable and did not want to get up. Cons, Valet was not cheap it was $28.11 a night and they added someone to my room which I had to talk to the front deck to fix. I would suggest the parking next to the hotel not that much of a walk but it is only $10.00 a day so you have $18.00 Already. The rooms where nice but the bath/spa tub could use a little more updating and not a fan or the fogged glass doors if sharing a room with several people, but over all not bad. The worst thing I could say about this hotel was the pool area, it is small and the water temp was not at all what you would be hoping for, the pool stayed cold and the hot tub was way way to hot and the jets did not work. Over all review, I would recommend staying at this hotel it was nice and not bad besides price of parking.

Super Getaway spot
This is a historic hotel with a historic feel. We could look out our window right into the courtyard of the Alamo. It had a touch of luxury without the cost. The only drawback was the parking charge: $28 per day. The hotel staff was courteous and informative on the surroundings. Perfectly located to experience the heart of San Antonio.

One of our favorite getaways.
My first stay here was a romantic weekend getaway with my husband. We had a gorgeous room with a king size bed, jacuzzi tub and a view of the Alamo. The bed was comfy, the jacuzzi tub was awesome and the location was perfect! There was one downfall: There was a used washcloth draped over the shower head when we arrived. GROSS! My second stay here was just a need to get the heck away from home for a couple nights and spend some time with my daughter. She had just covered The Battle of the Alamo in her Texas History class, so we had a great time walking the Alamo and checking out all the historic sites. The Riverwalk is a close walk and the horse drawn carriages are everywhere! Our room was a Business class Queen and it was absolutely perfect! The bed was so comfy and we had a great weekend. There were no downfalls to this visit. I love staying here. I divide my visits between the Emily Morgan and one other Riverwalk hotel.

Hotel location & facilities are great. However its a shame that front desk & ballet parking staff service is truly the worst I´ve ever experience. They are very unpolite and far from the customer service standards you look in a 4 starts hotel. Really a shame !!!!

Great location but grubby
Our original room (smaller than I would expect even in midtown NYC) was not yet ready when we walked into it. Desk clerk upgraded us to a roomy pleasant room, but maid service was very spotty, and not thorough. Visibly muddy spots near the lift were never mopped in the five days we were there. This is an adequate but slightly grubby hotel, in the heart of everything and directly across the narrow street from the Alamo and an easy stroll to the Riverwalk...not worth more than a midrange rate, and not recommended for a honeymoon or big trip. In-house restaurant is meh.

AAA Four Diamond who?
We first saw the hotel and loved it. A very historic building. The staff were unaware of their own facility and it turned out to be a dirty room adding to a disappointing all around trip to San Antonio. The bathroom was very dirty with a silver dollar sized spot of what appeared to be dried urine on the tile floor with a long hair stuck to it. The vents appear to have never been dusted as there is a very large amount of built up dust/lint/residue in the HVAC vents in both the bathroom and bedroom. Curtains in the bathroom had very prominent stains on them. But, the filter was clean!! The bellman told us where the ice machine was on our floor and when we went to get ice there was nothing but a water fixture and a blank drain pipe. No ice machine. This hotel has tremendous potential, but it is definitely not worth the expense that we paid this trip. I just think that a four diamond hotel should be consistently living up to that benchmark. This go round The Emily Morgan let us down.

Money-saving tip:
In Hotel
Do not use the Valet Parking if you are not planning on doing a lot of travel. The Valet Lot is also the pay to park lot immediately behind the hotel. You'll easily save money with a Pay to Park daily as opposed to a flat Valet fee daily.

OK, could have been better
We stayed at the hotel for one night during our trip to visit The Alamo. If you are looking for a hotel close to the Alamo, this is the one! It's literally right across the street! The hotel appears to be an old fashioned, classic hotel and the lobby is very elegant. However, we stayed in a Queen-sized room and it was a bit tiny. Also, it had a weird smell, but because the hotel was booked, they couldn't really move us, unless we wanted to pay more for a King Size bedroom. The shower pressure was also spotty at best. However, the staff was very friendly and helpful when asking for suggestions for touring the city. It is an OK experience, nothing great. Maybe it was just a bad day...
