1960s flair with tiki bar and modern conveniences on the River Walk

A recent multi-million dollar renovation updated furniture and amenities. There are 306 guest rooms and 11 suites. Several dining and libation options are in-house and kids under 12 eat free. Wireless Internet is free throughout the hotel and a business center offers several services. Guests swim in the heated, outdoor pool or work out at the fitness center.

  • 15 meeting rooms offer a combined 37,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. Groups of 10 to 1,000 can be accommodated.
Rooms

The 306 guest rooms and 11 suites have been recently redecorated in a contemporary style with bright accents of chili and tasteful dark wood. All rooms are equipped with coffee makers, hair dryers, an iron and ironing board, telephones with two lines and data ports, and full-size desks. A flat-screen color television with an expanded cable lineup is also in each room. Guests choose a king or two full beds. Suites have raised platform beds.

Easy access to downtown

The main lobby was beautiful. Great continental breakfast with excellent service and great choices. The rooms were neat and clean. The hallway carpets were soiled and needed upgrading. It is very near downtown and close to activities. A city shuttle stops at the hotel so access to the city is easy. Staff was very helpful.

It was OKAY.

It was OKAY. Not bad, not great. The location was nice for walking on the river, which is why I chose this hotel. The lobby had some neat aspects to it, birds in cages.. Cafe.. etc.. My air conditioner didn't work, what so ever.. I was given excuses and eventually just gave up.. Parking was an additional $18, and that's if you can even find a spot (which I didn't, still charged). Went down to breakfast the next morning, got a plate, sat down to eat.. And as I was taking a bite of cardboard tasting bacon, a lady came and told me that would be $10.. Maybe that's normal? I don't really know, but for a $150 room I figured they'd spot me breakfast.. Which was sub-par at best anyways.. Needless to say, I'll never be returning here..

weekend get away

This hotel was great. Staff very proffesional. Food was delicious. The only problem is that swimming pool closes at 10pm. I think it should be open at all times. Some people just want to stay and enjoy the swimming pool at nights. Other than that, everything was great...

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There's a great little taco place around the corner called Pete's Tako House. Great yummy food for the price and off the riverwalk if you're looking for a hole in a wall type of place with great food.

not worth the money

We had trouble the whole time with our phone service-couldn't get calls coming in. Five of the TV channels were snowy-2 of them major channels. The tub drained so slowly that we had to stand in the water when showering. The sink didn't have a stopper. One night there was someone in the hotel pool at 3 AM making a lot of noise. Breakfast wasn't very warm when we ate it. Rooms were very ordinary for the price we paid for the trip.

not what it looks like

The hotel is further down the riverwalk away from the main area than I thought. Rooms look much bigger and nicer in photos. Actually very small rooms. They charge for local calls! Buffet breakfast was food and that was about it. It was a safe location. Nice area, never felt unsecure.

If you go to the river walk get a 3 day pass on the river taxi. Saves money and time!
