The Econo Lodge Central completed a total property renovation in late 2008 and offers the amenities you are looking for. The property features microwaves, refrigerators, irons and boards, and hairdryers in all rooms. The hotel offers a complimentary deluxe continental breakfast including fresh hot waffles, muffins, two types of cereal, juice, coffee and fresh fruit. Complimentary high-speed Internet as well. Pet charge: 15.00 per night per pet. Pet limit: one pet per room

Friendly Staff...poor accomodations

The Econo Lodge Central, San Antonio, Texas has a very friendly desk clerk when you check in. Unfortunately that was the highlight of our stay. The room and bath need repair...badly. Of course I did see counter-tops and various construction boxes in the parkinglot. So, I suppose they are doing a remodel. The room needed painting, the old room-to-room door had been caulked shut and painted over at one time. The tub looked to have been restored, a long time ago, and was flaking around the drain and walls. Blankets had cigarette burns in a non-smoking room...figure that to be either old (very old) blankets or guests not following the rules. The location was good, not too far from where we needed to be. So, for one night at the price, it was what we expected.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas is not far and it is fairly easy to get downtown to the River Walk.

Very friendly staff

Staff, especially the manager were very attentive and prompt in responding to our needs. When we were late towards the end of the complimentary breakfast the manager chased after us and offered bananas from his home. On the first day when we found no soap and shampoo, another staff member ran out to give us the shampoo(that had not been available when requested) as we went out. Our room was very neat and clean although this is an older motel.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Bill Miller's Barbecue is located next to the motel. Jacala Mexican Restaurant, which we consider one of the best in San Antonio is located on West Ave. a short drive away. The motel is conveniently located on I-10 near 410 which makes most areas of San Antonio easily accessible.
