Historic Texas landmark with rooftop pool on San Antonio's River Walk
Equal effort was made maintaining the historical character of this 1920s-era 24-story skyscraper, formerly the Alamo Bank, and upgrading the amenities to include key luxuries, in keeping with the River Walk-adjacent glamour. Being just four blocks from San Antonio's Market Square and The Alamo makes tapping into the old-school charm easy -- as easy as it is to shop one's heart out at the boutiques on the glamorous River Walk or at the nearby River Center Mall.
Highlights
  • Right on the River Walk and in the heart of the theater district, across the street from the Aztec Theater
  • Rooftop pool with two hot tubs
  • Free hot Quikstart Breakfast and Kickback early-evening snacks, with hot food and cold beverages
Rooms

Many of the Drury Plaza Hotel's 380 rooms offer a place to watch the water lazily winding along the glitzy River Walk. If that ever loses its charm, every room has its own flat panel LCD TV, with HBO and a wide array of cable channels. Furnishings are traditional, with dark wood, subtle floral prints, and ample storage. Hair dryers, irons and ironing boards also come standard.

Features

The homey steakhouse chain, Texas Land and Cattle, is located on the property, and many more restaurants are just steps away. Theaters, including the Majestic, Empire, and Aztec are very close by. The palatial lobby features 50-foot ceilings, travertine flooring and stained glass windows.

Close to the Action

This hotel was great for a weekend visit to the Riverwalk. The afternoon snack and drink time was a plus as we came back to the hotel to relax before going out on the town. The popcorn was so good, and the nachos were too. Families will enjoy meeting at this time to eat and plan their next adventure. It was also great to wake up to a good hot breakfast. The business center was a plus in helping us keep up with things as we were away. Very friendly staff too!

Affordable and family friendly

Our stay at the Drury Inn Riverwalk was wonderful. The rooms are clean, and the beds are comfortable. The staff was very friendly. It is right on the riverwalk so you can walk or ride the riverboat to dinner/nightlife. They have free beverages and snacks in the evening and a wonderful hot breakfast each morning. They will even give you an extra hour to check out at no cost if you need it. The price was very reasonable for the area the hotel is located in. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Great Get-away

We were thrilled with the proximity of the Riverwalk (just one floor down beneath street level and there it was). The lazy-boy chair in bedroom area was great for catching a little TV (on the large flat screen). Bathroom was very spacious. We also liked the fact that there was both fridge and microwave. Oh, and the hot breakfasts were really substantial.

Nice hotel

The Drury Plaza Hotel was very nice, but I was some what disappointed because I was expecting to find the hotel on the Riverwalk. I soon realized that the hotel was on the Riverwalk, but did not find that out until taking a boat ride, seeing it on the water by accident.

Quick Get-A-Way

We were welcomed the moment we walked into the lobby. The room was beautifully decorated with separate living area and for the Man of the house a reclyner with a flat screen TV. Free Breakfast and Reception was a nice addition. The view from the rooftop pool/hot tub was priceless, just check on closing time (missed our evening swim because of that). We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone with or without family.

A good bet for The Riverwalk

This hotel is in a converted bank building and they did a great job. It has the most beautiful marble lobby with 1930's art and a gorgeous stained glass of the Alamo. The staff was very friendly and the location is near the Riverwalk. The rooms are tastefully done, clean and while not huge, quite comfortable. The breakfast is served on a mezzanine, which is exceptionally attractive compared to most hotel breakfast buffet areas and has views of the street. The only downside - $18/night valet parking and they give you your luggage cart to push instead of the usual bellboy service. I would definitely stay here again.
