Business-minded hotel close to the Convention Center, on the River Walk
With 37,000 square feet of meeting space and 15 rooms that can be parceled out in a number of ways, and a short walk to the San Antonio Convention Center, the Crowne Plaza Hotel Riverwalk is a key spot to do business. The proximity to the AT&T Center, Bank of America, Toyota and USAA doesn't hurt. There is plenty of fun and sightseeing to be had as well. The hotel is near the Alamo, Hemisfair Park, Tower of the Americas and the Alamodome. The rooftop pool is heated and a plaza overlooking the river is reminiscent of a Mexican market square.
Highlights
  • Heated outdoor pool and sun-drenched plaza with river view
  • Grab breakfast or watch the game at 111 Bar
  • Pecan Street Pub has overstuffed leather club chairs
  • Pets welcome
Rooms

Cream-colored comforters top the beds in the rooms at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Riverwalk, but the dusters beneath are a fiery red color. Wrought-iron chandeliers are in some rooms. The refrigerators have ice makers (a plus in Texas) and a newspaper is delivered to each room every morning.

Features

Guests at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Riverwalk sink into overstuffed leather club chairs and watch the game or have a chat at the Pecan Street Pub. The 111 Bar serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is a great spot to watch the game, too. The outdoor pool and adjacent Jacuzzi is heated. There are two fitness centers, one off-site and one on, which allows 24-hour access. The hotel is within walking distance of the San Antonio Convention Center.

Not what I expected for what we paid.

We were expecting a little nicer but overall staff was great. We felt a breakfast should have been included and the beds were a little hard from what we've experienced at other hotels. We also believed the hotel was actually on the Riverwalk and not a distance as experienced.

Very nice

Everything was great...the beds were the best..so very comfortable and large...the room itself was nice and very clean. I did however, still feel that the rooms were a little small for the price of the stay. The hotel was located near a lot of nice areas in San Antonio....just note that it is much easier to get to the main (busy) area of the riverwalk by going to the street level..

fantastic downtown/riverwalk location

The Crowne Plaza Riverwalk is located downtown with stairs directly down to the Riverwalk. The hotel is about a 5 minutes walk down the river to where all of the restaurants/bars/shopping are located. The Alamo and all downtown attractions are all also within walking distance. My rental car did not leave the parking garage until my return trip to the airport!! The hotel was clean, attractive, and had a helpful/attentive staff. I would recommend it to anyone.

Not Completely Satisfied

Our room was clean and the staff was very friendly & helpful and we enjoyed very much the fitness center, pool, room service choices, and the excellent location to the Riverwalk. However, for the money we paid - I was less than satifisfied with our overall experience. We are experienced travelers & were disapointed with several things: The refrigerator we had requested to have in our room at arrival was not ready for us, the toilet was difficult to flush, none of the ice machines worked (I tried 4 floors before finding out from the front desk that none of the floors had working ice machines) the furnishings were not as nice/quality as expected, there was no shuttle to the airport, the parking expense at the hotel was steep, and our check-out bill was not accurate. When returning to San Antonia, we will definately stay at a hotel along the Riverwalk, but will look for different accomodations.

Great location

Great location off the party path of the rierwalk. Has some nice dining very close by but definitely a more quiet scene close to the crowne. I would stay here again but make sure you leave at least an hr early if you want to take the water taxi.

My review of Crowne Plaza Hotel RIVERWALK

It must have been a slow time of year, as getting food and beverage service was a challenge. Great property for the price and value, but it would have been nice to have full service in the food end.
