Business-minded hotel close to the Convention Center, on the River Walk
With 37,000 square feet of meeting space and 15 rooms that can be parceled out in a number of ways, and a short walk to the San Antonio Convention Center, the Crowne Plaza Hotel Riverwalk is a key spot to do business. The proximity to the AT&T Center, Bank of America, Toyota and USAA doesn't hurt. There is plenty of fun and sightseeing to be had as well. The hotel is near the Alamo, Hemisfair Park, Tower of the Americas and the Alamodome. The rooftop pool is heated and a plaza overlooking the river is reminiscent of a Mexican market square.
Highlights
  • Heated outdoor pool and sun-drenched plaza with river view
  • Grab breakfast or watch the game at 111 Bar
  • Pecan Street Pub has overstuffed leather club chairs
  • Pets welcome
Rooms

Cream-colored comforters top the beds in the rooms at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Riverwalk, but the dusters beneath are a fiery red color. Wrought-iron chandeliers are in some rooms. The refrigerators have ice makers (a plus in Texas) and a newspaper is delivered to each room every morning.

Features

Guests at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Riverwalk sink into overstuffed leather club chairs and watch the game or have a chat at the Pecan Street Pub. The 111 Bar serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is a great spot to watch the game, too. The outdoor pool and adjacent Jacuzzi is heated. There are two fitness centers, one off-site and one on, which allows 24-hour access. The hotel is within walking distance of the San Antonio Convention Center.

It Was Just Okay

The staff was very freindly and helpful. The room was not what I would have expected from the Crown Plaza. It was very small, you could just open the door to the restroom without hitting the toilet. The room also had a musty smell to it, we would not stay there again.

good prices

the room was great, but the water was never very hot. food was very good and prices were reasonable. I was very disappointed in the location. The decription was very misleading as to the proximity to the Riverwalk.

Wonderful place!

The staff was very friendly and helpful...gave us directions and ideas of things to do. We spent most of the time on the riverwalk. The hotel was very clean, beds and linens very comfortable, and the outdoor pool was wonderful!! Wish they would have had refrigerators in rooms, though.

Boudro's on the Riverwalk is awesome! They make guacamole right at your table! Be sure to go to El Mercado (Mexican market-outdoors).

Disappointed

Hotel is located at the end of the Riverwalk. What we saved by parking in the parking lot across the street we spent on taxi fare. The hotel had 4 elevators only 2 of which were working. It took 10 min. to get an elevator then we had to ride all the way up then back down until it reached the lobby to check out. Restaurants were far from the hotel and hard to find. Our romantic weekend was a big disappointment. The only positive was the hotel personnel; they were extremely nice and very helpful!

Unbeatable location for the price

Good hotel, close to the famous riverwalk. Helpful staff. Good place to stay. Parking REALLY expensive, $23.75/ night. But, there are parking lots across the street for cheap.

Misleading description

OVERALL,OUR STAY WAS OK BUT THERE WERE SOME PROBLEMS SUCH AS OUR KEYS NOT WORKING AND THE SOFT DRINK MACHINE NEAR THE ROOM NOT WORKING, BUT THE MAIN PROBLEM AS I STATED ABOVE WAS THE PARKING FEES. NO WHERE DOES IT SAY ON THEIR WEBSITE THAT THERE IS A FEE FOR PARKING. IN FACT, IT LISTS PARKING AS ONE OF THE AMENITIES. THE FEE WAS $24.00/DAY FOR SELF-PARKING AND $28.00 FOR VALET PARKING. ALSO, THE DESK CLERK TOLD US THAT WE COULD GET ANYTHING ON THE RESTAURANT MENU IN THE BAR WHEN IN FACT THAT WAS NOT THE CASE.
