Business-minded hotel close to the Convention Center, on the River Walk
With 37,000 square feet of meeting space and 15 rooms that can be parceled out in a number of ways, and a short walk to the San Antonio Convention Center, the Crowne Plaza Hotel Riverwalk is a key spot to do business. The proximity to the AT&T Center, Bank of America, Toyota and USAA doesn't hurt. There is plenty of fun and sightseeing to be had as well. The hotel is near the Alamo, Hemisfair Park, Tower of the Americas and the Alamodome. The rooftop pool is heated and a plaza overlooking the river is reminiscent of a Mexican market square.
Highlights
  • Heated outdoor pool and sun-drenched plaza with river view
  • Grab breakfast or watch the game at 111 Bar
  • Pecan Street Pub has overstuffed leather club chairs
  • Pets welcome
Rooms

Cream-colored comforters top the beds in the rooms at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Riverwalk, but the dusters beneath are a fiery red color. Wrought-iron chandeliers are in some rooms. The refrigerators have ice makers (a plus in Texas) and a newspaper is delivered to each room every morning.

Features

Guests at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Riverwalk sink into overstuffed leather club chairs and watch the game or have a chat at the Pecan Street Pub. The 111 Bar serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is a great spot to watch the game, too. The outdoor pool and adjacent Jacuzzi is heated. There are two fitness centers, one off-site and one on, which allows 24-hour access. The hotel is within walking distance of the San Antonio Convention Center.

Way over rated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hotel is nice BUT if your thinking about choosing a hotel for the riverwalk view or just because u want to be near the riverwalk well then I definately do not recommend it. I chose the crown plaza expecting what it details online in their ad, however customer service was poor when we checked in the guy was not very interested in making us feel welcome nor did he inform us about any of the hotels amenities in which I had to ask. FYI parking is $24 why pay 24 when u can pay 10 and park on the corner of the hotel. The room was clean but average, I didn't think I was staying at a plaza except for the high price parking, bottled water, and breakfast. I know when I go to a hotel I don't plan to watch tv but this tv was ancient I've stayed at other hotels not as expensive with much better rooms and flat screen tv. Overall I grade my vacation in San Antonio an 8 but my stay at the hotel was a 4 out of 10. I really value customer service and this hotel did not show me this. Hope this helps someone on there trip.

expectations

While in San Antonio we visited family so we didn't spend an ecessive amount of time in the hotel. The time we did spend was a bit dissapointing, there was no local tv listings so you just had to surf until you found something to watch. There was a patch of wall paper peeling loose by the window, no fridge in the room (I thought that was almost standard now days),the staff was not very friendly (except the bartender), and being placed right on the River walk there was no information about any activities taking place that weekend! We went over Thanksgiving and there was alot of activity there but they did not promote it.

Crowne Plaza Hotel RIVERWALK

We choose this to be able to close to riverwalk action but this one is little further than the center of river walk. You can hear the noise of other rooms flushing their toilet untill late in the night One good thing was they allo outside food chains (such as pizza hut) deliver food for you. Rooms have old TV sets and reception of programs was not good.

Nice hotel, but not what you may expect

The hotel is fairly nice, but the description of "Riverwalk" is a little deceptive. It is on the Riverwalk, but about 3 blocks away from the really developed portion of it. It is nice, but not "convention" level, as it is a little dated. Hotel parking is expensive at $27-$28 per night, but we parked across the street for $1.50 per day, so that was OK. The staff was very courteous and helpful. They were all extremely nice. Also did not like charges of $9.95 per day for internet access in the room.

Many activities nearby (4-5 blocks) including the infamous Riverwalk, the Alamo, great shopping malls and restaurants.

Not worth it!

I can't believe they charge for parking! And you don't even get to park in the building, but you have to park across the street. Almost $25 a night for parking! The room was better than a motel 6, but still felt old and used. The cleaning was poor as they didn't even place a trash bag in our bathroom trash can when we left for the day. Over all I would choose somewhere else to stay for that amount to money.

Staying downtown puts you close to the riverwalk and shopping which is nice, but not necessary.

It Was Just Okay

The staff was very freindly and helpful. The room was not what I would have expected from the Crown Plaza. It was very small, you could just open the door to the restroom without hitting the toilet. The room also had a musty smell to it, we would not stay there again.
